ITA OnTheFly No Longer Available;
Existing Installations Will Cease Working 31 Dec 2017
Existing Installations Will Cease Working 31 Dec 2017
Google purchased ITA, and chose to drop OnTheFly. Some functions are failing already, and Google / ITA is no longer supporting the app.
Note for users of OnTheFly:
ITA Software's mobile flight-search app OnTheFly is no longer available and existing installations will no longer work after December 2017. You can still search for flights using ITA's technology here on Matrix. Or try Google Flights on mobile to find the best fares wherever you are.

On the fly ITA matrix app disappeared?
i travel a lot for business and have used the ITA matrix software on my laptop and the identical iPhone app called On The Fly for years. A couple of weeks ago, my iPhone broke and when I downloaded the backup to my new iPhone the app is gone. Poof. It's not in my purchased list or anywhere. There is an app called on the fly in the App Store but it's totally a different thing and not the ITA matrix software search. I really want this back because it was great to search across airlines and could sort by arrival departure or duration of flights. You couldn't buy flights through it but it was great for knowing what flights are available. It was stripped down with no advertising or sales pitches. Anybody know what happened to this app? Thanks so much.

Is this what you are referring to? I clicked on the App Store link, which opens up iTunes. But then I get the message saying the app is not available. I wonder if Google is only allowing this for Android phones. Or perhaps the iOS app has not been updated and was pulled off the App Store.

Not only does it seem to be gone from at least the US and Canadian App Stores, but if you have the app already installed, it is no longer able to search. All searches come up empty. That make me suspect this is a Google move on their back end, rather than Apple yanking a stale app or similar.

does anyone have a recommendation for a similar app? That will search across airlines, sort by departure parameters, arrival parameters, duration of flight, nearby airports, etc. I especially liked this one because it was simple and fast and free of ads. Most apps I see are geared to cheapest flight which is not my main concern. Time savings is more important usually. Maybe there is another app I just don't know about...

Mine is still working but I can't find it in the App Store any more as well.
I also use the Kayak and Skyscanner apps which both have quite a few sorting and filter options, but of course they're mere metasearch engines.

I use OnTheFly daily so it definitely still works if you have it.
In my experience I have been able to resurrect purchases of no longer available apps by doing the following.
Open the App Store on you iPhone
Select updates
Scroll to the top and select purchases.
Select not on this iPhone.
Scroll down and look for app and download
This has worked for me in the past with things like the FlyerTalk app for example. Otherwise if you have backed up on a computer you should be able to bring it back and you may be able to find it by accessing your previous purchases on the App Store through the web.
