Question What do you use to keep track of the cities/countries you've visited?

Hi all,

I'm wondering what the FTers use to keep track of the cities/countries they've visited? TripAdvisor used to have a decent offering whereby it would 'pin' the cities/countries you've been to overlaid on a Google Map. It was useful but the interface now is awful, integrated w/ FB (which I don't like) and clunky.

What are the alternatives out there? I'd like something more visual like travel pins in a google world map instead of a list/table of cities I've visited.

Bonus points if I can integrate photos into the travel map so every time you click on a pin a photo from the destination pops up.

Cheers in advance!

I second this app. I can plan out my own trip with the app, adding images, descriptions, custom icons, and place details along the way. Just map out my way this app.

I just use TripIt... it's got a record of every trip I've taken over the last 6 years or so since I really started travelling.

Beyond that, I'm going to get some tattoo work done soon that will have the passport entrance stamp of every country I've visited.

I am a traveller and I like to travel alone to the unknown places. I gets some thrill traveling to the interior part were no one knows what you speak and what they speak and to travel through there and to get the things done.
I don't think a traveller need to pin or put flag on the map to understand they have visited this place. He will be remembering the date and time exactly if he hear/Read the name of the place which he have explored as a traveller.

App in the Air is great also. I use it to keep track of all the routes I fly. It would not be much of use if you drive.

If you're serious, that's an awesome idea!

Yep, I'm serious. I can't claim it was my idea though. I was trying to figure out a way to do it with country flags, but I saw an image on the web of someone who had done similar and it looked much better than my flag idea.

Just re-affirms my belief that all the cool ideas have already been thought of.

I also installed app in the air, but I was not able to feed it with my trips. I use tripcase (as i book most of my trips via cwt anyways) but I could not find any automatic feed from it. anyone has the trick?

When 100 countries was my goal, I printed a list of the Century Traveler's Club countries and checked them off as they were visited. Luddite.

I use openflights.org

I'm using it as a storage place (with bulk import/export ability) until to find a better tool that could be auto synced with my foursquare (swarm) check-ins, or jetlovers.com
