Skype for iPhone coming Tuesday March 30

See details here: http://tiny.cc/B9HId

It's wifi-based, so you can't use the ATT network, but it should still save some dough.^

or Tuesday, March 31, 2009?

It's available now if you're on Eastern Time, as of midnight.

It's not cooperating at all with my jailbroken iPhone.

Nor mine. Goes for about 45 seconds before it just crashes back to the home screen. I got one test call in before I gave up. Hopefully an update will fix it. It certainly has potential.

I'd love to hear of anyone using it successfully on the 2G Touch.

Anyone?

Loaded it just after midnight. Works fine. On Howard Forums it is pretty clearly not working on jail broken phones.

the problem with jailbroken iphones is with a file called mobilesubstrate and a fix has already been released.

Hmmmm....downloaded 7 am this morning, got message that said would run better if my software was updated to 2.2. But it does seem to work....

I'm still using 2.1 on jailbroken/unlocked first gen iPhone, with no sim card installed, just wifi connection.During a morning conference call, also busy was typing away (slowly) and chatting with colleague in HK. Haven't tried to place any calls just yet.

And here's the howardchui.com link for anyone interested: http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...5#post12441455

Just to clarify, it's a fix in Cydia, not a fix to Skype.

(Just in case anyone mis-interpreted it the way I did, and re-installed Skype ).

jailbroke and cydia - clippy is the problem!!

found a link about turning off clippy.

i could download the skype app, but everytime i tapped screen on first page to enter username, it crashed back to home page. found link about turning off clippy, but did not know how to do it! went to Cydia and updated programs and found there was a clippy update.

made the update, downloaded skype again and it now works.

the problem is the cydia app not the skype or iphone!

hope that helps
