Question Device to download pics that isn't a laptop?

Hi - We like to travel a lot and am thinking of a laptop but the price is putting me on hold for now. Is there a device that I could download pictures, edit and type notes without going the laptop route? Cheaper?
Thanks, sue

A high end phone (Blackberry, Treo, etc.) would do all that. Of course, you're going to be locked into a contract with the phone company . . . What price range are you looking at? I've seen a lot of sub-$500 laptops for sale recently.

not sure

Hi - i'm hoping to spend on a good laptop sometime this year and would rather not put money into a "lesser" one right now. Unless that would be cheaper than some other device! sue

Looks like this would do what you need (note - I am in no way affiliated with this auction)

And you must install your own HD. But a 20G hard drive would be pretty cheap.

The higher priced ones on the same auction page ($100.00 and up) have their own storage.
