Downgrade from Windows 10
I finally got my new computer and started to set it up. It comes with Windows 10 home.
I'm finding I really don't like it and would like to downgrade to Windows 7. I have access to discounted MS software, so the cost is neglible. Would upgrading it to the Pro version make it a bit better?
I have started transferring files from my old computer, but really don't care if I lose my work so far if I'm able to downgrade.
I don't mind having an older OS - heck my current computer is still running Vista
Thoughts?

I don't like the tiles presented when I click on Start
I don't like what they've done with the Start Menu
I don't like that the Windows control features, such as control panel, printer manager and similar are buried in the "apps menu"
And I really don't like Edge, but I've turned it off in favor of IE 11.
I just want a computer with a regular desktop that isn't accessing the internet to provide me with all kinds of sponsored content. I've deleted some of the programs, such as priceline, etc, but I really don't like that whole part of the OS.

You may be better initially trying something like Start10, which brings back the Windows 7 start button. There's a free trial, and it's very low cost.
If you still don't like Windows 10, then think about going back to Windows 7.
One issue you may have is that there may not be Windows 7 drivers available for your new PC.

That's nothing to do with Windows 10. That's just bloatware installed by the PC manufacturer.

I'll pay
I guess if someone is selling the old windows start button then I can't be the only person not liking it.
Thanks.

I actually don't mind the new version in Windows 10, but I can see why lots of people don't like it.

You just need to unpin them from the start menu by right clicking and choosing unpin from start. It's a one time hassle.
There is still the basic outline of the start menu we all know and love.
I think Microsoft allows a downgrade to Windows 7 in some cases but don't know what they are.

Thanks... from the bit of research I did, it's not really a good idea to downgrade my computer since it came with Win10 installed. I will look to see if it was upgraded to that OS, but I'm thinking not
I will look at all the other suggestions given.
Thanks.

Yep, I'd stick with Windows 10 and do some tweaking so it looks as much like Windows 7 as you like. There's a reasonable step-by-step here:

I personally don't think you need Start10 or ClassicShell to tweak Windows 10 properly. The only time I see tiles in my setup is when I click on the Start menu, and you can remove, move around, and add tiles to your own liking. I have a Control Panel tile, for instance.

Too late... already purchased and HP from Costco.
But I'm pretty good at deleting bloatware
