recommended android anti-theft app?

would appreciate recommendations on an android anti-theft app, namely, which allows to
locate the phone once it's stolen (remote activation of gps or alike),
lock the phone,
and maybe erase sensitive data.

wouldnt hurt if the app if free ;-)

TIA

Best of all, it can be installed on a rooted phone making it harder to get rid of.

On a related note, I use Avast Mobile Security, but only because I had heard they were good somewhere. Does anyone have any knowledge of Avast and whether it's worth keeping?

Been using Lookout in our household with the recent additions like Signal Flares on the free edition are pretty cool. Avast has more features and I might just uninstall Lookout from one of the tablets and run it thru.

Meanwhile, the androidpolice folks created the snapshot comparison, it's a bit difficult to read on my mobile device, but it should be helpful on a bigger screen - http://www.androidpolice.com/topics/...-app-shootout/

Android Lost has many features for which some of the other apps charge a premium or don't offer.

I use lookout on my android mobile devices. The thing I like about lookout is there appears to be essentially ZERO performance impact. The only impact I have noticed from months of using it and testing functionality (I actually DID test the remote wipe function) is that it delays app updates - but that's only because it is confirming there are no virus on there.
