TSA pat-down leaves traveler covered in urine

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40291856.../?ocid=twitter

Before starting the enhanced pat-down procedure, a security officer did tell him what they were going to do and how they were going to it, but Sawyer said it wasn’t until they asked him to remove his sweatshirt and saw his urostomy bag that they asked any questions about his medical condition.

“One agent watched as the other used his flat hand to go slowly down my chest. I tried to warn him that he would hit the bag and break the seal on my bag, but he ignored me. Sure enough, the seal was broken and urine started dribbling down my shirt and my leg and into my pants.”

The security officer finished the pat-down, tested the gloves for any trace of explosives and then, Sawyer said, “He told me I could go. They never apologized. They never offered to help. They acted like they hadn’t seen what happened. But I know they saw it because I had a wet mark.”

Humiliated, upset and wet, Sawyer said he had to walk through the airport soaked in urine, board his plane and wait until after takeoff before he could clean up.

What's next? Dislodging insulin pumps?

Just when I think I can't be more outraged...

There is no excuse for that...TSA owes this pax an apology!

I'm surprised they didn't cite the 3-1-1 liquids policy.

I expect to see more of these stories. I hope the various disability rights groups raise a stink about these incidents; they are truly an affront to human dignity.

Im sure the TSA will tell us this never happened...and even if it did people with urostomy bags shouldn't fly if the don't won't to have them dumped on them...and/or its the pax own fault and/or the pax dumpted it on himself for dramatic effect...of course if it's real there will be no CCTV footage, lost, imoperable, etc....if its not they'll be along with magic footage to show it

I can't wait till a colostomy bag is abused like this.

That could turn into a stinky situation, and the TSA would not be able to play it off.

This particular comment in the comments section really made my blood boil:

Everyone wants their cake and eat it to. Things happen. To be safe this is what life has come down to. You have requested this, but are frustrated when it applies to you. Either put up or shut up.

ygtbfkm!!

that they asked any questions about his medical condition
When did our screening clerks become medical personnel? I really hope a complaint is filed, and the clerks involved are fired.

Absolutely appalling.

I want to vomit, and it's not due to the urine.

And then he'd probably be charged with assault.

Urine from a healthy person is sterile. The "sterile area" beyond the perpetual Red Team failing "TSA Checkpoint" is anything but sterile.

Sadly, not tens but hundreds or thousands of events like the OP will need to happen to get enough Kettles to realize "Houston, there IS a Problem and it's Name is "TSA.""

Colostomy.

My father-in-law has one. He's a colon cancer survivor.

I fear for the day he gets a patdown.

As for the TSAs "training memo" I don't believe it'll make any difference. They'll continue to be insensitive boors.

The agents acted more or less professionally, but with a total lack of humanity or compassion. Distasteful.
