Ancient 747 in Bangkok neighbourhood...

I don't know if this has ever been posted about on here before, but thought I'd share. I was driving in the more outer reaches of Bangkok the other day (about 1.5 hours from the central area by car, but not as far as Suvarnabhumi), and I saw this 747 just sitting in a field beside the road. So bizarre, almost surreal.
Not my pics but it's got the story and you can see just how odd the surroundings are...

Looks like a great spot to film a short film.

Reminds of this plane I saw in Fairbanks:

Not absolutely sure what it was, DC-3 maybe?

No, it's not a DC-3 (note the nose wheel, tricycle landing gear).

It's not a DC-4 (they had round windows).

It looks to be shorter than a DC-7, so I'm guessing DC-6.

It's a DC-6. Look at the cockpit windows - one pane in the center over the nose, and the farthest back window that extends lower than the others. The other giveaway is the circular light above the front cabin window.

The Lockheed Electra has a different front window configuration.

With the large cargo door in front, I'd wager that this is a -6A or -6B.

Duh, can't believe I missed that. Does look like it's a DC-6. There seems to be a fair number of -3's flying out of Fairbanks, so I was seeing them a bunch when I was there, so that kinda primed me thinking of the wrong one.

But like the OP with the 747, it was really kinda weird, just driving along a road, not near the airport at all, and just happened to run across it along the side of the road.

Maybe they were going to turn it into lodging like the 747 in Stockholm!

I wonder if that plane sits on a non fenced lot? Can you imagine the fun kids would have playing in that thing.

It looked to me like it wouldn't be too difficult to get in... I kinda wanted to explore myself. Except, being Bangkok, there might be some "snakes on the m***** f***** plane"!

Anyone can put a junked car or two in their yard, but it takes a true redneck to park a 747. Do they even have rednecks in BKK?
