CNN: Air India proposes an even longer flight ...
Since Emirates' 17:35 nonstop from Dubai to Panama City apparently isn't long enough, Air India is now proposing 18-hour-long non-stop flights from San Francisco to somewhere (probably Delhi or Bangalore) in India. More information here on cnn.com.
At least we don't have to wonder where the passenger traffic for this one will come from!

It would have to be BLR. SFO-DEL is 850+ miles shorter than DXB-PTY, so I'd be surprised if it's a longer flight time. SFO-BLR would be just over 100 miles longer.
Given the routes, it may be longer in one direction and shorter in the other, time-wise.

TLV-JFK-LAS is 18 hours (plus connection time in JFK).
Yes, I do get off the plane in JFK (after 12 hour segment) but that just means a very long walk in Terminal 4 to Passport Control, getting my checked luggage, handing it back in, and then taking another long walk to my 6 hour flight.
The TLV-JFK segment in Biz Elite gives me a lie-flat bed (all have aisle access) and very good service. The JFK-LAS segment is in an ordinary domestic FC seat and much less service.
All things considered, I would much prefer being on a direct TLV-LAS flight for 18 hours with Biz Elite accommodations.

There used to be a 17-hour direct flight BKK-JFK a while back. I'd pretty much prefer that over 25+ hours total including connecting flight.
But yeah, being cramped in a tiny plane seat for that long is such a bummer.
It's much better than the shortlinebus I had to take after JFK though...

Well I survived CX YYZ-ANC-HKG in Y in both directions, which took 20 hours, when we weren't allowed off in ANC. The flight is now direct, and if it had to transit ANC for some reason, you would have to get off to be fingerprinted and photographed (if not American or Canadian).
I can't wait until LHR-SYD direct becomes available, but I won't do it in less than Y+. By the time it actually becomes available, I might not want to do it in less than J.
