Flights to Moscow offering only Y and PE

THAI are selling PE BKK-DME on their (old) 777-200ER using the 'business' cabin. So a Y and PE only offering.

I wish they'd do that on BKK-AKL - the 777-200ER business class product is now well behind what should be offered for a 12 hour business class flight.

PE has been offered to ARN and CPH for years.

As I recall it TG 953/952 and TG 963/962 (the high season flights CPH/ARN - HKT and BKK - CPH/ARN daytime/noon flights) were operated by B777-200ER in all PE/Y configuration last winter (W15) or two years ago (not sure about W16).

The issue is that TG PE is the same or even more expensive than other carriers in C class, notably TK and QR, making it of limited value.

Indeed, but why settle with Y service/soft product when you are able to get the full C package with other carriers for the same price? (admittedly, with a transfer somewhere enroute to TH).

I'm sure the soft product will be de-tuned to PE standards per Scandanavia (just CPH and ARN these days; not OSL).

I hope also this move is also some kind of recognition by THAI that the 77-200/200ER and 777-300 hard product is not at the C level these days.

I would use it if offered from LHR - my company policy allows travel in PE and prohibits travel in J (or at least would cause significant difficulties in terms of getting approvals..) even if J is the cheaper option.

I would however have to figure out how to justify a positioning trip from LHR to CPH or ARN

Only for 2 months at present - mid-late Oct back to 777-200ER....

I can only hope that this is because the TG system has not been updated for their Winter season from Oct 17....
