Headphones in J

Any comments from FTers re the noise cancelling headphones supplied in J. I have always taken my Panasonic headphones on board but am wanting to travel as light as possibly.

I take my own Bose, so AA and LH are fine for me- other ones I flew this year, headphones are pretty poor really- such as CX, BA, UA, TK, QR, OS.

Happy flying.

They are Phitek (New Zealand company) BlackBox headphones adapted for airline use, with a three prong plug.

Not sure if they are based on the M10 or M16. They are OK, but not brilliant. I prefer to use my own BlackBox M10's.

I used to think the TG ones were better than many other airlines but on my last flight after trying 3 separate pairs, all faulty, I gave up.

Hmmm, that sounds TG familiar. I suspect I may take my pair on board next week.

I tried them last night for a few minutes, pretty poor compared with mid range Panasonics

As 11277m pointed out, the brand is not that bad...in line with other carriers (same as Etihad premium cabin if I recall). Even the Bose on AA and LH is not to everyone's like (especially how AA start collecting them and counting them like they were gold..otherwise will say the bass is too strong etc. and I am no expect)...bottom line is if you have personal preference, take your own. Otherwise what is provided on TG (J) is what you would get on other major carriers.

I had two flights recently - those headphones were more noise creating than cancelling. After trying two and three pairs respectively, I decide to sleep instead of watching movies with these perhaps good originally, but crappy now headphones...
