777 200/300

Hi all,

Sorry if this is already answered elsewhere - I have searched! But v happy to be guided to an existing answer if it's out there.

I'm looking at TG465 BKK to MEL in July. The Thai website lists it as 777 200/300. Is there any way to know if that would be the older Business Class product, or the new one? (My understanding is that there's quite a big difference between them in terms of the bed?)

Also - I'm going BOM - xxx - MEL, and choosing between Thai via BKK and Malaysia via KUL. Does anybody have a strong recommendation between them?

Thanks a lot!

Also would like to know. On Flight Aware the scheduled plane for two days later is always B77W BUT the actual plane used seems to be almost always B772.

Between the 772 and 773 regionals, my current understanding is that there is not much difference in business (both have angled-flat seats). Is that right?

Ah okay. So no chance that this is the new product?

(Any views on old product TG Business Class vs MH Business Class - including Star Alliance lounge provision in BKK vs OW lounges in KUL?)

Note there are two different versions of the angle flat seat in the 777-200/300. Thai Airways Int'l Seat Configuration. I believe the slight preference is for the first. The 2-2-2 layout in the 772 is really spacious.

The 772ER and 773 have the same seat. 772ER is in 2-2-2 config and 773 2-3-2. Meanwhile the 772 has the older biz seat which, like you mention, I certainly find more comfortable than the newer one, particularly in sleeping mode.

MEL is almost always 772ER now with occasional 772s.

Yes it is...lucky for some! A pretty rare occurrence for MEL these days.

Hey, quick reply from me (as OP) because I'm totally confused!

Pls could somebody v briefly summarise for me what the relevant possible aircraft are, and what kind of Business Class product they carry?

Partly my unfamiliarity with TG, and partly I don't know Boeing plane models very well. (What is 77W?!)

Sorry - and thank you for hand-holding me through it!
