Short Connection in BKK
My husband and I are reluctant to book a flight from SYD-HKT via BKK (single ticket TG 476 and TG 221) using united mileage because the transit time is only 1 hour and 55 minutes. Has anybody experienced this short transit time in BKK? Is it doable?
We are U.S. citizens. Do we go thru the immigration in BKK or HKT?
Thanks.

doable, actually no problem as late afternoon transit facility usually not so busy
in BKK you go through transit immigration and transit security. bags check through to HKT
if on same ticket and you miss the flight due to delay on first leg, TG will just simply rebook you to next flight

You are fully protected anyway if it's on the one ticket. Thai will look after you and put you on the next flight. Saying that, the connection is plenty of time. Would only be an issue if there was a significant delay.

I agree. There is bo issue/nothing to be concerned about. Book the ticket by all means. In the unlikely event that your SYD-BKK is significantly delayed and you misconnect at BKK, TG will take care of you and book on their next flight to HKT - try have a look at how many flights to HKT TG operates a day? Really not an issue even if you misconnect at BKK.

no need to identify baggage in BKK - you can check it through all the way to Phuket and, therefore, the minimum connecting time is enough (from TG to TG 55 min only thanks to a special through check-in and seperate immigration fast lane service at BKK)

Thank you. I feel better

fast lane immigration for transit passenger? since when? In my experience only if you are accompanied by escort (flying F) or if you dare to jump the queue.

(which I dub as a "fast lane", knowing well that there is the other dedicated special F-class/VVIP- fast track at the main immigration area in front of bagg delivery area - but this-one is not which I meant....)
