Very annoying that Thai have dropped their Thursday flight for this route, has gone from daily down to 5 days a week I think. They must be going to have a lot of aircraft parked at BKK with all these cancellations.

Well considering the country can't stop bickering and protesting and carrying on then it's not surprising

Greetings! I flew TG to Denpasar in September 2013 on the 772 aircraft in J and thought the aircraft and service were both quite nice. The attention to detail was also quite nice compared to other regional flights I've taken. I think you will enjoy the trip on TG if they are still using the 772 aircraft.

Being an A330 there is a chance it could be a recliner (older C) on the day. In fact this week they have been flying HS-TEC and HS-TEE on the route which are both almost 20 years old! It's the old seat on them too. It's all down to luck I'm afraid

Either of which are streets better than what LH would fly FRA-MAD (C is empty Y middle seat there) or UA/AA would fly SFO-ORD (narrowbody), and comparable to what SQ flies SIN-DPS (their older 772s)...

I've flown midcon UA/AA "F" and LH shorthaul "C". I'd pick SQ or TG C on a 772/old A333 to DPS any day. Perhaps the only redeeming value on a non-VX USA-based carrier's standard "F" would be Wi-Fi- which you wouldn't get over an ocean until we get satellite-based WiFi anyways. And seriously, have you been in LH NEK? For four hours at a go? It's hardly a 50-60 inch pitch in a recliner...
I don't think airlines are going to put their premium products on short or midhaul leisure-heavy routes like DPS-SIN/BKK, West Coast USA-Hawaii/Mexico, East Coast-Caribbean, Europe-Canary Islands. You are getting people cashing in miles or buying tickets way in advance for planned vacations, not business travelers doing last-minute travel, and that makes the revenue steady but not outrageously profitable. So I don't think it's reasonable to expect A388 F with free-flowing Dom on leisure routes like that. I mean, really, if SQ thought they could command a premium on a route like SIN-DPS by flying newer planes with F cabins or better C seats, don't you think they'd try?

Flew BKK-DPS (Jan 15) and DPS-BKK (Jan 24), both A330. The outbound was old business class. I believe return was as well. Service was still great and we got really cool Porsche amenity kits. We were also connecting to TG/F, and since this flight normally operates from a remote stand, it meant a private van (alas, not a Porsche!) and then buggy escort to the lounge.
