New posts search only yeilds last 2 hour posts :(

New posts search only yeilds last 2 hour posts :(
When I do a "new posts" search usually I get the most recent posts since my last visit or the last 499 (which I presume is the limit). Last two days very different. Is it only me?
Have tried clearing cookies and used 2 different browsers.
