"Reputation Disabled" now the default?

I've noticed that most of the new members (join date of April 2004) whose posts I've read in the various fora I visit have the reputation disabled - a much higher percentage than one would think would appear if they are disabling the reputation feature based on reasoned choice. I'm just wondering why.

Is our bellyaching over on ORP scaring them off?

Is the "default" for a new member to have the feature disabled unless the member affirmatively turns it on?

Yes... that's what the setting is at for new accounts. There's also a separate setting allowing users to be able to turn it on/off and that's set to "yes" as well.
