Back/forward buttons broken for Safari 5.0

I'm using Safari 5.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.3 (fully up-to-date).

When I used the browser Back button to return to a forum listing from viewing a post, the Forward button (which ought to take me 'back' to the post that I was viewing) does not work.

e.g. I start here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...p-rewards-410/

I click the 'Useful websites' sticky, and I takes me here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-websites.html

I press 'Back', I am returned here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...p-rewards-410/

So far so good, however now the 'Forward' button is grayed out; which it shouldn't be. I notice that the button seems to be active right up until the page completes loading, at which point it becomes unavailable.

I'm using the exact same environment as you, Safari 5 on 10.6.3, and I have no issues. I followed you instructions above and I still get the forward button.

I can duplicate this both on my desktop and both my laptops.

I am not logged in to the Facebook integration thing (which I am sure was implicated in similar problems last time around) so please log out of that if you are currently using it.

In fact, just now, I just tried the example I gave you again and I noticed the Back button became available instead of the Forward button (i.e. at the Amex MR listing page), I pressed it and the page didn't change at all, but now the Forward button is available again. Pressing it doesn't change the page, but in the history the page is called 'cross domain receiver page' which makes me think it's this same pointless Facebook integration feature that was causing so many problems before.

VERIFIED: hiding Facebook connect fixes

Turning off the Facebook connect option makes the problem go away.
