Arrow Sheraton Laguna Guam [Master Thread]

Hi Folks,

If you did not know, Sheraton recently opened the Sheraton Laguna Guam which was formerly the palace hotel. I had the opportunity to see the rooms (standard, suite, ocean suite) and they're all very very modern and chic in my words. If you go the hotel's website, the rooms are displayed and they are exactly what they look like.

If you're ever in the area, it would be worthwhile to stay there...you'll get your money's worth and it is steps above the Westin Guam now.

ENJOY!

At a travel fair, I won a stay at the Sheraton Laguna. I will be there this weekend. All we have had to look at were the brochure and the website; I hadn't realized that it is a refurbished older hotel.

I also just made Platinum courtesy of a tie-in with Delta; it will be interesting to see if I get any benefits, or even a room upgrade, on a free stay.

I will try to post a report next week.

Any recent updates on this property? Would anyone pick this over the Hilton?

Just returned. Stay was excellent. You can read the full review I posted on tripadvisor:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...-Tamuning.html

If you are looking for the best rooms on guam, the Sheraton is by far the best place to stay. The rooms are the most updated on the island (very important as it seems like most of the resorts are quite dated) and very comfortable. Keep in mind that Guam caters to Japanese Tourists (about 90% of the tourists) so expect hard beds just like when visiting Japan. The resort is a bit away from all the action, but that it is what I liked about it...it always felt very relaxed and a bit of an escape. I highly recommend renting a car while on the island -- parking is readily accessible and it makes it super easy to get around.

The hotel grounds are very nice and the pool is beautiful. If you are looking for a beach, the Sheraton does not have one. I was concerned about this at first, but at the end of the day I found the inifinity pool overlooking the ocean to be much more relaxing. If you are looking for the beach -- Tumon (where the other resorts are) is only a 5 minute drive away. For me, a better room with great AC...a balcony...a stellar views outweighed an older hotel on the beach.

With relation to service, well it is an island and thing go at island speed. The room was cleaned every day (although usually not unitl 3 or 4pm ish) -- I noticed that this has bothered previous posters -- but it did not really bother me. Did not get a chance to check out the restaurants, but seemed to be some solid dining options. The gym is excellent and the spa is top notch. All in all, I would highly recommend the Sheraton as long as you get a pool/ocean view and are not looking for a beach!

Is there a club lounge here...and does it have free wifi? If so, is it open on weekends?

Very nice club lounge. I think it's open on the weekends.

Free internet in the room for plats. I don't know about wifi in the lounge. There are two computers with internet connection and a printer in the upstairs portion of the lounge.

Im here now and second the opinion that this is probably the best on the island. Very modern accommodations, L'Occitane toiletries in premium rooms, executive lounge has fridge with all-day drinks (although sign says do not take out of lounge), and great Plat recognition. They took my picture upon checkin for Plat recognition (this has been reported at other properties too). The exec lounce service is 7-10am breakfast, 2-4pm afternoon snacks, and 5-8pm drinks/evening snacks. Drinks available all day, and even though the staff insisted no free wifi in lounge, Ive picked up a very strong signal called SLGR Club in the lounge)...in fact, Im posting from here now!

One thing to note: arrive early for the snack presentations as they are very slow to replenish.

I will echo the comments above. We spend golden week at this property (after spending one night at the Westin Guam and checking out to move to the Sheraton).

I did not receive an upgrade at check in (lowly gold status) -- but they told me to check back later. They found me a 1 bedroom suite -- and it was very nice. The L'Occitane amenities are very nice (although not available in the regular rooms).

Both the regular rooms and the suites are quite nice, recently renovated, clean and well appointed -- no complaints. Service is good -- Ms. Girlie does a good job running the front desk -- generally I think this is the best hotel in Guam (although the Hyatt also looked nice). One knock would be that the Sheraton beds are not as nice as the Westin Heavenly Beds. But otherwise this hotel outclasses the Westin on all fronts.

The Infinity Pool has limited chase seating (go the Infinity Pool if you want to avoid some of the kids) -- so get there early. Lounge access was granted to me -- and it was quite nice. I had free in room internet (why can't I get this at the W Hotels).

If you are going to Guam, don't be fooled by the Westin name -- stay at the Sheraton!!

Stayed there twice recently and was impressed both times. Generally very friendly. Got upgraded to a very nicely furnished suite both times.

The grounds are very nice. The lounge is nice, although not luxurious, and open by room key 24 hours with soft drinks always available. The breakfast is standard American, but there is always some fresh fish, which is very nice.

The hotel was pretty empty which might explain how some staff members just knew my name.

Also, had asked for a taxi to be ready for me at checkout and both times it was not there, but then told we well take you in the hotel car, which was really nice. Great service!

We automatically upgrade Platinum members to a suite

Had 2 stays and both excellent. I was recognized at the front desk for check-in on 2nd stay. BTW my picture was taken on first visit as it takes photo of Platinum members. I was escorted to the room for check-in and both times I was upgraded to a suite. ^

So far only downside of the resort is lack of beach and noise during the evening dinner shows.

Just returned from a 3 night stay with two other plat friends. We were all upgraded to top-floor suites, which were lovely.

I do think it is worth mentioning two significant downsides to this hotel:

1. Location. It is approx 3 miles from the main touristic strip in Guam. We took a taxi from the hotel to the strip on our last night and it cost $35. There is literally nothing of interest within a 3 mile radius of the hotel.

2. No wi-fi in the rooms. The club lounge does have wi-fi (and a nice breakfast/free booze at night), but it was a bit of a hassle going there every time I wanted to check my email.
