Just recently returned from a 3 day stay at the Sheraton Laguna.
Platinum breakfast was recognized, there are 2 breakfasts in the continental lounge, one was continental and the other was decidedly japanese.
I enjoyede the japanese cuisine, but the staff was slow to reload on the breakfast items and then when they would reload, the items available went fast.

Overall a great stay and a great hotel. Staff is excellent and friendly especially in the pool areas. Very helpful with information on how to visit the island. There is a beautiful wedding chapel there as well and there were several weddings being held in the few days I was there.

The room was top notch... very modern and clean... I was very happy with my stay and plan on returning to this hotel again.

Folks still travel to Guam? Are they still mostly Japanese tourists?

This remains one of the strangest "vacation destinations" in the world! Once I no longer had to hopscotch the Pacific to get to Asia on my OnePass miles, I've stayed away.

I recently forgot my password to an account, and was prompted to answer a security question: "armpit of the Pacific". I don't actually recall setting this up, but I entered "Guam" and it worked. Used to live there, so feel my judgement is qualified. And I still have my boonie dog, to prove I was there.

That's not a very secure "security question." The answer is too obvious.

Seriously, I've overnighted in Guam four of five times (including being stuck there on a broken airplane!). But it's now been well over a decade. I can't speak about living there, but it was not horrible to visit. I remember renting a car and driving around the island. We saw some WWII battle sites. I always looked for tree snakes, but never saw any. The town was fine. I've seen much worse. Probably not worse in the USA, but definitely overseas.

I just can't imagine anyone choosing it as their vacation destination. A day on your way someplace else is fine.

Were you given the option of the breakfast in the restaurant?

Hi belfordrocks,

It appears that the hotel has not uploaded the rate for next year. You may like to check back later.

Working promo codes?

For whatever reason, this property has no "offers" tab on their webpage. Can't really find any working promo codes from quick searches either. Trying to stay for 9 nights and there doesn't seem to be any "stay x nights get 1 free" or anything! The hotel feigned ignorance and referred me to the SPG reservations line who would have a "full list." The reservations line said they didn't have anything like that. :-/

Anyone happen to know of anything? I know it's a long shot.

Just did a quick overnight stay here before taking the UA Island Hopper.

Had seen in the Sheraton vs. Westin thread that the Sheraton at one point offered free airport transfers for Plats. The e-mail address on the property's "Contact Us" web page bounced back, but Platinum Liaison put me touch with them and I was able to arrange this. This turned out to be a driver and a town car on arrival and some SUV on departure.

Asked about an upgrade at check-in. The FDC checked with another employee and then said they could put me in a Laguna Suite. This seemed nicely appointed; my main complaint would be how dark it was (had to turn on all the lights if I really wanted to be able to see anything in either room) and a paucity of electrical outlets (one free plug in each of the sitting room and the bedroom).

There were drops of water on the back of the toilet seat, which were somewhat off-putting until I was actually using the commode and got dripped on -- there's a grille directly overhead -- so I will choose to think/hope it was condensation from A/C :-/ Also a small puddle of water by the shower door when I arrived.

The club lounge had a food spread but by the time I got there it had been almost completely ravaged by the crowd and what was left didn't look too enticing so I just left.

Decided to enjoy the sunset and have a drink and a quick meal in "The Point" lounge off the lobby. Pina colada was served with an orange slice garnish instead of pineapple they had warned me that the food would take 20-30 minutes, but after 45-50 minutes having literally not seen anyone since (not even to ask if I wanted another drink) I went up to the bar and asked and was told apologetically that it would be just another short while. I went out to use the restroom (guess they trusted me) and when I returned the food indeed showed up 5-10 minutes later.

Without my saying anything the manager comped my drink, which was a nice gesture.

I wanted to be fully rested for the long travel day the next day, so didn't really explore much else (not much to see directly around the property although there's apparently a free shuttle to a shopping area), but it seemed like a decent property overall, other than a few minor gaffes in execution.
