I stayed there last November. It's a clean property, although not 'super modern dubai'... I was using points. If I was paying cash, I'd probably have opted for something like the Park Hyatt.
Also, this property is not in the beach resort area (Jumeriah), and more of a business hotel. So take that for what it's worth - depending on what you are looking for.

Dubai Creek Questions
Looking at the available rooms online at the Sheraton Dubai Creek and Jr. Suites appear to be available. Does anyone know what the room configuration is for this? Can I expect a separate (albeit small) living room if I book this room category?
Wish the website were more descriptive about the room categories. I've also emailed the hotel, but figured I might get a faster response from you savvy folks.

I've just written a brief review, with pictures, of the Sheraton Dubai Creek as part of my trip report:

Hope it's informative.

I'm seeing three room types offered at the exact same price:
* Towers City View
* Towers Creek View
* Japanese Towers
Which is the preferred room type between the three options above? I read reviews of the Towers rooms, but what are the Japanese Towers?
Also, any recent updates of Plat treatment at this hotel? The last review is from 2008...
Thanks,
Bostonbali

Just stayed here. Hotel is very clean, but the furnishings are outdated. They do have LCD TVs though. It's very close to the airport. A day prior to arrival, I saw that I was upgraded to a room on the Club Floor. When I checked in, I received an Executive Suite.
Airport pickups are complimentary for Plat members, and a few days before I arrived, received an email asking me for my flight information. All in all, a decent hotel. Staff have a "can do" attitude such as opening the gym for me at 5am.
Continental breakfast can be taken in the lounge, or full breakfast in the restaurant is free for plats.

I stayed there last week
Bathrooms are a definite improvement. Some of the room has been eaten up to give a separate walk in shower. Complete transformation of the rooms
Wireless internet is 30 meg also now

Which Platinum amenities were offered? Do they still pick Plats up at the airport?

The iconic Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers re-opened its doors on 9th April 2014 following an extensive US$50 million renovation. Opened in 1978, the landmark hotel was the first Sheraton hotel to open in the UAE. Following the refurbishment – which includes all guestrooms, facilities, public spaces and the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Vivaldi by Alfredo Russo, as well as its Indian restaurant Ashiana by Vineet – Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers will continue to be a choice gathering place for global travellers and the local community. Additional restaurants include Creekside Restaurant, where diners can enjoy the theatre of cooking with freshly prepared, flavoursome Japanese and Asian dishes, and there is also the latest addition Hatta, an international buffet restaurant overlooking the pool and Creek. With fantastic views of the Creek and Dubai skyline, Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers is once again at the forefront of the luxury hotel market in Dubai.

I ate here and had a few drinks at the bar with a friend last month; very impressive looking place.
As such, and due to Hilton properties starting to get VERY expensive in the area of late, I'm looking at giving SPG a shot. Similar rate here to Le Meridien - where I've stayed before and found it be OK. Anyone stayed at both properties recently?
I'm only SPG Gold, so not holding my breath for any upgrades.
It's a shame the Plat challenge is such a chore when the Gold benefits are so poor, really. I'd like SPG Plat as I could then move away from Hilton and Accor, but the thought of spending 18 nights in SPG properties with almost no status benefits is not particularly appealing.
