Just checked in today. Buffet breakfast in lieu of 500pts for plat amenity. Booked single french bed closet sized room. Upgraded to Grand Canal Terrace Deluxe room overlooking the canal on top (6th) floor with tje largest terrace ever! Room is literally in front of that big dome building
Terrace is larger than the room and can fit 40-50 pax for partying at night!
Edit: i dont know whats up with italy but from westin palace milan, westin regina & europa, westin excelsior roma, etc....their air conditioning feels like a heater....have to open doors/windows just to get some cool air...
Update: purchase Raid or Baygon....too many mosquitos....

This sounds just like the room we stayed in for 3 nights! We had the one furthest to the right with a gorgeous view of the Vogalonga as they raced by. The terrace had plants in urns, 2 chaise lounges, a sitting area with sofa, etc... Simply a fabulous stay and the buffet breakfast can't be beat for location and selection. We must have had 3 cappucinos each and we now refer to every fancy breakfast as "The Grand Canal Breakfast". Have a great stay!
I have to admit though...room service food is so aweful...35 euros for chicken sandwhich which was soooooo dry and cold with stale bread and biscuits...22 euro for sandwhich and 12 eur for tray charge....and o.j. at minibar for 10 euros!? I woke up at 1 am coz so hungry...but have to wait for breakfast to open.
Staffs here are so nice however...i really dont get why on spg.com rated this property as 3.6 (or 3.8?) from guest reviews....i would say its a solid 4.5 out of 5 for plats...and the price of 172 euros for this kind of upgraded room not using SNA but as plat upgrade upon checkin cant be beat....super happy
Do you by any chance can recommend a cheap gondola ride? Travelling alone but i hear its 80 euros for 30-40 minutes....i'd rather swim for that price....

Anyone have a recent stay here as a SPG Plat? I'm debating between this and the Gritti (which currently has C&P availability). I'll be booking two rooms...do you think they will let me have free breakfast for both people in each room? Both breakfast spreads seem to have solid reviews. We are only spending one night here and would like a canal view and we have a few SNAs to burn. Thanks for your thoughts!
One walk in closet area/room, one shoe area/room, 1 bathroom...and walk pass small hallway to reach bedroom...which leads to a super huge terrace.
No need to burn SNA here IMHO..Youll LOVE it here! Safe travels and enjoy!

It's €75 pp. The most expensive bk I have seen. To buy 3000 points = $20@500=US$120. Pretty close.
Usually people consider 2.5 US cent a point an OK deal for redemptions -- than value is US$75. Then you are in the money.
There is a place outside of the hotel you can eat good breakfast for €10-20 pp.

Spasibo!
I just opened a brand new SPG card for our son so I might get it for free w/bonus.
But once again, was it worth it? I can sell 3K points for $48. Or I can spend them on breakfast.
I m not exactly a newcomer to Venice, I know my ways around.
but this trip is gonna be special.

The only thing great with breakfast is the view of canal. Bk is at ground floor. Its now 45e/ppbut as medved had mentioned, not worth it. Typical scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages, cold cuts. Variety of bread and a few pies amd thats it...also prosecco served for breakfast....wouldnt pay it imho. You can sit there after 11 am and still get the same great views. Youll love it there btw! Super nice people! And honest too

For a special trip, I'd eat there not @ side streets eateries. It's in style.

Does anyone have a direct contact/email address for the hotel? I will be booking four rooms there for a trip and will probably be upgrading two to canal view, but wanted to see if all could be close together if possible. Any categories to avoid here?

"our guests dont want that"
rarely experienced such a lousy service and customer orientation. stayed there for 4 days last August with paid stay for a suite. the room was huge but going to breakfast: asking to sit at the terrace - our guests dont want that.... ups ...whats the difference between "our guests" and me psying for the stay? I might have a conceptional misunderstanding.
anyway. watching the staff...hands donw the pants - yes inside the pants! - and next time serving food. maybe hygenic standards arent the same at "The Westin Rome" but.....hope you enjoy your complimentary breakfast. the pharmacy is around the door

I am staying with an travel agent soon and can choose either this hotel or the Danieli.
she is platinum
which hotel do you think we would get the better room?
i see the Danieli is a better position for one night( going on a cruise next day)
