FAQs

SPG TAKE THREE PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registration: Starwood Preferred Guest® Members must register online between May 15, 2017, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), August 30, 2017 (the "registration period") at spg.com/takethree. Registered members can earn bonus Starpoints® on eligible stays between May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017 (the "earning period"), at participating hotels and resorts in the SPG® program.

Earning: Registered members will earn double Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible stays of two or more nights within the earning period. Registered members who earn double Starpoints will earn an additional two (2) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of four [4] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled. Registered members will earn triple Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible weekend stays of two or more nights within the earning period. Registered members who earn triple Starpoints will earn an additional four (4) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of six [6] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled or tripled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled or tripled (collectively, the "promotion"). Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers may not be combined.

Bonusing: The bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within two [2] to four [4] weeks after the eligible stay posts.

Eligible stays and nights: An eligible stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying an eligible rate in the same hotel or resort, regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur, and posting to the registered member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. An eligible night is defined as at least one night paying an eligible rate in the earning period. An eligible rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. A description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions. See Section 2.1 for the complete definition of eligible rates. Note that certain prepaid room reservations — such as when the booking is made through a third party, including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com, orbitz.com and delta.com — are not considered eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify for promotional earnings. Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the registered member's account.

All promotions are subject to the Starwood Preferred Guest program terms and conditions, which are subject to change without notice and can be found at spg.com. Offer is applicable to individual members only and not to groups. Not responsible for omissions or typographical errors. SPG reserves the right to discontinue this promotion at any time, and the promotion is void where prohibited by law. What are the dates during which I can earn bonus Starpoints®?

Each registered SPG Member can earn bonus Starpoints for eligible paid stays from May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017 (the “earning period”).

Can anyone register for this promotion?

Any SPG Member can register at spg.com/takethree. A nonmember can join the SPG program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/takethree.

Will eligible stays or nights prior to registration count toward my earning?

Yes, as long as the SPG Member registers by August 30, 2017, any eligible paid stays or nights from May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017, will count toward earning.

How do I earn double Starpoints?

A registered SPG Member will earn double Starpoints if the eligible stay is two or more nights at any participating SPG hotel or resort during the earning period. The bonus may be earned an unlimited number of times during the earning period.

[Top]

How many Starpoints do I earn with double Starpoints?

With double Starpoints, an SPG Member will earn four (4) total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled. There is no limit to the number of total double bonus Starpoints a registered member can earn.

How do I earn triple Starpoints?

A registered member will earn triple Starpoints if the eligible stay is two or more nights and includes a Friday or Saturday night at participating hotels and resorts in the SPG program. For participating hotels in the Middle East, triple Starpoints will be awarded for eligible stays of two or more nights that include a Thursday or Friday night. Locations where triple Starpoints for eligible stays of two or more nights that include a Thursday or Friday night are: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. The bonus may be earned an unlimited number of times.

How many Starpoints do I earn with triple Starpoints?

With triple Starpoints, a registered member will earn six (6) total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be tripled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are tripled. There is no limit to the number of total triple bonus Starpoints a member can earn.

At which hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn double and triple Starpoints?

A registered member can earn double and triple Starpoints at any hotel or resort participating in the SPG Take Three promotion. Click hereto view the complete list of participating hotels and resorts.

What qualifies as an eligible paid stay for the double or triple Starpoints?

An eligible paid stay includes at least two consecutive nights at a participating SPG hotel or resort paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the terms and conditions of the SPG program (spg.com/t&c).

[Top]

What qualifies as an eligible paid night?

An eligible paid night includes at least one night paying a qualifying rate at a hotel or resort participating in the SPG program during the earning period. Click here to view the complete list of hotels and resorts participating in the SPG Take Three promotion.

Can I book through a third party and earn bonus Starpoints?

Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. This is the only way to earn bonus Starpoints and get our best rates. Stays booked through prepaid, third-party channels — such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, delta.com, etc. — are not eligible Rate Plans, so the registered member will not earn bonus Starpoints and will not qualify for the promotion. A description of a Starpoints-eligible channel can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions, section 2.1.

If part of my stay was reserved using a Free Night Award or SPG® Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?

No. Stays booked with Free Night Awards or Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an Award and part is paid, the registered member will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.

If I check in before the earning period begins or check out after the earning period ends, but some of my stay is in the earning period, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes, as long as one night of the eligible stay is within the earning period, bonus Starpoints will be earned (even if part of the stay falls outside the earning period).

When will double and triple Starpoints post to my account?

Double and triple Starpoints earned during this promotion will post to the registered member's account within two [2] to four [4] weeks of each eligible paid stay posting. Please note: Not all bonuses will post at the same time.

[Top]

Will I earn stay and night credits toward elite status?

A registered member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning Starpoints.

Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions during this promotion?

Yes. However, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

I couldn't really find an answer to this question in the topic. Couldn't find it in the T&C neither, except for mentioning that it has to be an 'eligible stay' and there is a limit on that one (is it 90 nights?)
So, any ideas on whether there's a cap on the # of nights for this promo?

And does a long stay (which automatically includes a weekend) count as a stay 'including a weekend' and therefore get the triple points? The T&C state A registered member will earn triple Starpoints if the eligible stay is two or more nights and includes a Friday or Saturday night at participating hotels and resorts in the SPG program.

From the FAQ.

There is no limit to the number of total double bonus Starpoints a registered member can earn.
There is no limit to the number of total triple bonus Starpoints a registered member can earn.
There is a limit of 90 nights for an eligible stay. So if you are staying longer than 90 days, I'd suggest checking out and staying somewhere else for one night and then checking back in.

The second part of your question has been addressed in posts #18 and #33 .

Annoying that Westin Grand Central is not listed. I bring 4 other people with me to meetings. Maybe I will change us all to Westin Times Square. Going to e-mail manager first.

And because you have The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express, ...
Uh, no. I canceled that card two years ago.

just to make sure I'm not missing something, is the list of participating properties ONLY for the properties that give the extra flat bonus to spg amex card holders, and ANY spg stay is eligible for the double/triple starpoints

or

is it that the list of resorts that are participating includes BOTH those where you get the extra 1500 points AND double / triple points?

TIA

The list is all those properties who are participating (the bulk of them) but only the resorts on that list will count for the Amex SPG bonus.

gotcha.

and per what William posted earlier, a stay that includes at least 1 night inside the promotional window is entitled to the bonus for all nights, yes?

ie if the period ends sept 4 and I have a stay checking in sept 4, then that stay earns a bonus on all the nights of the stay regardless of when it ends, yes?

I AM reading that right, I assume?

TIA

Just to clarify:

"Registered members will earn triple Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible weekend stays of two or more nights within the earning period. Registered members who earn triple Starpoints will earn an additional four (4) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of six [6] Starpoints per dollar)."

Does that mean if my stay includes two weekend-nights I earn triple starpoints on ALL nights of the stay, or only on the weekend-nights of the stay?

E.g. If I stay for 7 nights, will I earn triple points for three nights and double points for four, or triple points for 7?

My apologies for any inconvenience.

I was contacted by one other person with a similar issue, suggested that they try to clear cache and cookies and try again, but never heard back.

Can you give this a try and if it doesn't work, please send us any screenshots that we can forward to SPG marketing?

TIA

William,

I cleared my cache, cookies, history. Still nothing. All I get is white, blank screen.

So, I opened my wife an SPG account and she was able to sign up for the promo!

I called the SPG elite line to tell them this but the person was unable to help. He said he can't sign me up over the phone because this is an online promo only. William, please let me know how I can sign up for this promo.
