There's no reason they have to restrict it to one. HHonors has both Visa and Amex options.

Good point. Amex still needs to modify T&C to conform with Marriott program.

Yes, but Chase issues the Marriott card, and they don't like it when their co-brand partners have other deals going. MR lost WN & CO, and the BA transfer ratio is less than optimal for most cases. I seriously doubt Chase would go along with a deal like that. Marriott will likely have to pick one or the other.

Many Marriott loyalists felt gypped with the 3-1 conversion ratio...this development only supports their case...the SPG card effectively earns 6 MR points to their 5.

I was a former SPG loyalist until earlier this year or so, therefore I already had the card, but as a big Marriott person now, I understand how they would feel...wonder how long this will last

Does that include Ritz Carlton hotels?

Given that I don't have a Chase Marriott Visa, this enhancement (non-sarcastic) plus the transferability of points SPG to Marriott & v.v. might be enough to convince me to keep my SPG Amex one more year when my AF is billed in late November!

Nope - just had a similar 1-5 cat one from a promo or something expire. Just doesn't work w/my travel patterns.

They offer travel insurance that the US card doesn't have.

Although the Canadian SPG Amex doesn't have much (other than the travel insurance margarita girl pointed out), the Chase Marriott just far surpassed it's benefit's for Canadians.

As of December 1st, we'll get 5 MR points for each $1 CAD spent at SPG:

So for Canadians, Chase Marriott is the only card with accelerators for SPG and Marriott (let alone either of those programs).
