Starwood Boutique Hotel with a McDonalds reportedly coming across from Wrigley Field

The Chicago Tribune is reporting the Ricketts family who owns the Cubs has a deal with Starwood to open a boutique hotel across from Wrigley.

Interestingly the Ricketts also have a deal for a McDonalds to be included in any future development of the property.

Nothing says Starwood Boutique Hotel like a Super Sized Big Mac meal.

I've never come across a McD in a *wood property, but many of them certainly have a Starbucks.

Cheers,

I wonder if the newspaper made a mistake and it's actually Starwood Capital? Otherwise wouldn't it just be a W? What other boutique brand does Starwood own?

According to the Starwood (Hotels & Resorts) press release earlier today, this is supposed to be a Sheraton, but it will have some unique aspects to it.

Cheers,
Could they mean, on the property site, yet not physically inside the hotel itself.

That is probably a mixed use zoned area. I'm not an architect or engineer, but perhaps the hotel is above the McDonalds? Or the McDonalds is somehow built into the building with its own separate entrance?

The only reasonable space across the street from Wrigley Field where one could build a hotel without razing a lot of existing "stuff" just happens to have an existing McDonalds on it. I wouldn't be surprised if it all has something to do with each other.

Considering the Cubs affiliation, it's safe to already don this Heartbreak Hotel...

At least we won't be very disappointed by the platinum breakfast options ... Unless they exclude the Egg McMuffin!

From the Press Release

Starwood also announced today the Ricketts family has signed an agreement to develop a boutique hotel affiliated with the Sheraton brand across the street from Wrigley Field.

.....

The exterior design and décor of the hotel will be a one-of-a-kind collaboration, which will be uniquely designed to fit within the current neighborhood landscape and community.

"Once we know how we can save Wrigley Field, the Ricketts Family is looking forward to the opportunity to build a hotel across the street. It could complement the neighborhood and its establishments while also serving fans and tourists," said Ricketts Family spokesman Dennis Culloton. "Most importantly, building this hotel is a critical part of a more than $500 million plan to reinvest in Wrigley Field and the neighborhood. The family wants to create 800 construction jobs and 1,300 full-time jobs, preserve Wrigley Field as one of the top three tourist destinations in the state and grow the ballpark’s $650 million in annual economic impact to Chicago and the region."

....

The hotel will offer a prime location at the northwest corner of Clark and Addison and be a key anchor component of a large scale entertainment and retail development across from Wrigley Field. Walking distance to the numerous theaters, shops, restaurants, and bars in the Lakeview community, the hotel will be just 15 minutes from the Magnificent Mile and the Chicago Loop providing fans and visitors with additional and desired lodging on the North side outside of Cubs baseball games.

Great! As a former Chicago area resident with my family still living in the suburbs this is great news. I can see myself taking my neices and nephews to a game and staying overnight enjoying the lounge access!

The full press release I read does clearly say it will be affiliated with Sheraton.
