Status match for ex-Plat?

Status match for ex-Plat?
I have 8 years as Platinum, but that lapsed a few years ago (now LT Gold). The last year or two I've had 2 or fewer nights at *wood, with most of my travel at Hyatt.
With the new program, I am thinking of returning to *wood. I don't even know if *wood does status matching because my original Platinum was earned. Does *wood match status to Hyatt Diamond in this ex-Plat scenario, if at all?

Is such a challenge also available to Gold? I was Gold for the past two years, but because of less travel during my Master's program, I was only able to get five stays last year and dropped to Preferred. This year my travel will pick up again and I would easily gain Gold again. In fact I have already 5 stays booked or completed, so is there a way to get Gold back again earlier through a challenge?

There is no status challenge for Gold. Just Platinum.

I think I read somewhere that if you have ever held Plat status with SPG, you cant do the Plat Challenge 
I could be wrong, but there is another thread about this and that is what the T&Cs seemed to be saying. No go for previous Plats
