Received Platinum re-qualification gift (Sep 2017)
Similar to this thread about receiving chocolates, I received a delivery yesterday from SPG for re-qualifying for Platinum in early August. It was a box from Navarino Icons - olive oil, honey & fig marmalade.
Anyone else receive one? Was not expecting this at all. Thanks SPG!

Wow!
I am a lifetime platinum with 13 years (soon 14 years) of platinum and have NEVER received anything. Not a single thing - not a box of chocolates, not a bathrobe, not a luggage tag, NADA. A few times at certain hotels I would find a piece of cake or a glass of wine in my room thanking me for my business - but have never received anything from SPG. Even getting my SPG lifetime card was a pain in the a** that required me to make 3-4 phone calls.
This kind of thing actually bums me out, especially when I do the math on how much money I've spent on SPG properties throughout the years. Zero recognition.

There was a time when all Plats got a requalification gift. It's been a few years now (3-4?) since we've received anything. It was a very nice touch that made me feel appreciated.
If someone is so inclined, they can dig up the thread.

Chipmaster,
I've had 3 or 4 years where I was at +240 nights a year - that's literally 5 night a week/every week except Christmas. Never received a thing. Don't hold your breath. When you think that that's over $50,000 (not even including the extras like parking and room service) it's pretty sad that they send or offer nothing. Even my credit card gives me 2% cash back - that's $1000!
IHG (Crowne Plaza) would give me bottles of wine for much lower spends.
It's not that I EXPECT anything it's just a bummer when you see that the treatment of plats isn't uniform Also, in many years, I find it hard to believe that a lot of people who did receive things spent more/were more brand loyal than me. I think this is a MAJOR ball drop for them - it's these little things that make all the difference.

- Sheraton bathrobe w my first name embroidered (Not my favorite brand, but I do a lot of stays there)

- Well-worn plastic luggage tag

Didn't mean to bum anyone out. Just wanted to say thanks for a nice surprise. It's a small touch but makes me want to remain loyal to SPG.
It also came on a day when I ran out of olive oil, so timing was great

I've received an SPG picture book once a few years back.
Curious - those who are receiving these gifts from SPG - is your home mailing address in the US? Do other members around the world receive gifts as well?

USA address: I got the tote bag (although IIRC with different timing), the book, and the chocolate candy. I have the luggage tags, but I think I got them at a FT DO. No bathrobe for me, but I've never had an Amb, although I've always suspected that I was part of the control group at the beginning as I had a year with about 85 nights in StR and LC around then.
