The Westin Soma Bay Golf Resort & Spa, Egypt [LEAVING Marriott/SPG 30 Apr 2018]
The Sheraton at Soma Bay in Egypt will be joined by a Westin on 2/1, the former La Résidence des Cascades, member of Leading Hotels of the World:

Is this still current? I don't see any news that La Residence will turn into a Westin.
At this point, La Residence does not participate in the SPG programme but is 24EUR cheaper than the Sheraton...
I'm looking at one night only in that area before boarding a boat for a dive trip so I don't really mind the price, as long as I get my stay credit

The press release about the conversion said that the name change will occur by July 2015. Not long to go now.

Looks like a really nice hotel, doesnt have as nice a beach as the Sheraton where I stayed 3 times previously, but an amazing spa and looks a little more upmarket, but nothing wrong with the Sheraton, maybe just a bit tired and more package holiday feel to it. Shame BA dont fly to Hurgada anymore as it means connecting via Cairo which is a nightmare and dont think a charter would work for a 5 hour flight!

Leaving Marriott on April 30, 2018
Well that didn't last long.
It's showing rooms from EUR 53 a night, for a luxury resort property? Yikes, must not be doing very well.

Thats a real pitty. Was a really nice property; with the only downside that you need the shuttle to the bach.
We stayed last year and had a phenomenal BRG rate of 40 USD for 2 adults incl. half board
