Paris, Rome, Monaco, Spain..Which one????

The new wife and I want to travel around Europe a bit before we get into family life. I was looking at european starwood properties and I am initially leaning towards checking these off the list.

Anyone done a trip like this and have any advice on which of these countries/Starwood hotels you enjoyed most. We would have about 10 days and 125K points and want to use them as best I can for this trip. Thanks for any help or advice!

I've found the Paris hotels to be good, not great. I've only stayed once in Rome, forget which one, but it was excellent. Enjoy the trip!

Yes I live in Europe and have been countless times to these places. You can't go wrong at any of them, except perhaps Monaco where you could lose your life savings at the casino.

Monaco

I've stayed at the Le Meridien in Monaco and it was nice enough, but one of the most memorable moments for me was the $40 hamburger we had at the hotel, which was one of the more reasonable items, if I remember correctly. I don't mind spending money, but it is pretty much unreasonably expensive.

Also made the horrible mistake of eating at a nearby mexican restaurant -- yuck, clearly in europe you don't go for mexican food.

Besides the $40 burger, it is interesting that about every third car you see is a red lamborghini or ferrari.

We love Rome, but don't have experience with any Starwoods there. Also, Venice was great -- stayed at the Westin there.

Could depend on the time of year you'll go. But FWIW, Paris and Venice are the two most romantic cities my wife and I have been to. In Paris, Prince de Galles is a nice hotel in an excellent central location. Rooms a bit on the small side, but certainly adequate. Haven't stayed in any Venice properties.

Probably out of your way unless you are hopping around by plane anyway, but Krakow is a very, smallish, university city in southern Poland. The Sheraton there is nothing glamorous, but is certainly fine and probably would not cost you too many points.

Prague is another great city, but I don't know about the Starwoods there.

Happy trails!
