Arrow Marriott Bonvoy hotels in and near Niagara Falls

I couldn't find any threads less than 18 months old, so...

What is the best property around Niagara Falls for a long weekend stay with the family? It looks like Fallsview and Sheraton on the Falls are the two to choose from - any recent experiences with either?

Stays at the Fallsview (3) and On the Falls (2) in the past 12 months: both are good properties, with a slight preference for the Fallsview (... and probably a bit biased, was in the S On the Falls during very busy weekends, and some visible renovation works were under way)

Key pro Fallsview:
- very good lounge, well-staffed all the time
- more upgrade success (Plat)
- nicer view (IF looking towards the falls of course)
- easier parking

Key pro On the Falls:
- more central, walking around Niagara and falls themselves easier

I've stayed at both and prefer the Sheraton on the Falls, which also has more of a classic Niagara Falls view than the Fallsview (the Fallsview is on top of a bluff above the Horseshoe falls, while SOTF is at the bottom across from the American falls). Platinum upgrades are good at both hotels, but differerent. Fallsview is newer and suites have a dining room and are bigger. SOTF has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the falls and a heart-shaped jacuzzi tub also with a view of the falls. SOTF is in a congested area, but everything is walking distance, while Fallsview is more driving distance (or a long walk).

I've been going regularly on business and after a horrific experience at the Four Points (NY Side) I've had 4 stays at the Fallsview and have been impressed. As a plat, I've been given a suite every time. Also given coupon for free breakfast every morning. Only caveat is that their WiFi blows.

Sheraton Fallsview by a Mile

Lots of info has already been posted about both of these hotels, but I have recently stayed in both a half dozen times each over the past 12 months. IMHO, the Fallsview is consistantly much nicer than the Sheraton on the Falls, mostly because the guest rooms in the later are rather worn and tattered. Sheraton on the Falls is undergoing renovations, but it will be a while before all the guest rooms are updated.

During shoulder season, you can expect excellent upgrades at either property. As a plat you might get a corner suite (quite nice) or a a bi-level suite (nice for families, but not quite as elegant as the corner suites) at the Sheraton on the Falls. However, at the Sheraton Fallsview you can expect an executive suite assuming they still have inventory. These rooms are fabulous (modern, clean, elegant), complete with great falls view, fireplace, kitchenette, whirlpool, glass shower etc. Also, the Sheraton Fallsview has a Club Lounge which is often closed during the off-season, but you will get coupons for complimentary continental breakfast (not very good, but upgradable to full breakfast if you want). I have not been impressed with the food at either location, but in the event that you snag an Executive Suite you can utilize the "in room candelight dining" option, whereby they serve a select menu complete with tabelcloth and candles in your room (nice option if you are on a romantic outing)

I also prefer the location of the Sheraton Fallsview, but that is a personal choice (quieter, better view of horseshoe falls) since the Sheraton on the Falls is right beside Clifton hill and might be preferable if you have young kids. Sheraton on the Falls is also connected to better amusements and is conveniantly located next to the old casino if that is your cup of tea (Sheraton Fallsview is a two block walk to the new casino).

One thing to note: Sheraton Fallsview is currently finishing up a major renovation to the lobby and public areas. I believe that most of the construction has now been completed, but you may want to check with the hotel if that is a consideration.

Enjoy!

The last (and only) time we stayed at Sheraton On The Falls you had to carry your luggage and anything else you purchased while you were there (like a case of beer) about a block from the parking lot to the hotel. Major pain-in-the-butt. The Fallsview is much better in every way.

I just stayed at the Sheraton Fallsview a couple of weeks ago and would not recommend it until their renovation is complete. Construction work is extensive, restaurant was closed, front desk staff very unhelpful, and I was unable to access high-speed internet because no one could find the cord.

Had breakfast the next morning at the Hilton and even though I am a loyal SPG member, wished I had stayed there.

Smile any updates on the Starwoods in Niagara Falls

My wife, 3 young daughters (ages 9, 5 & 3) and I will be making the trip to Niagara Falls in early July, and I was hoping I could get an update on the Starwood Hotels in Niagara Falls.

I plan to use *points, so I am leaning towards the two 4-Points, but I can be easily swayed towards the two Sheratons if highly recommended.

Thank you, Jim

I stayed at the Fallsview Sheraton over Memorial day on my 50% off award trip - 7,000 points for two nights when they were sold out (a friend paid double for an anytime award at the Marriott across the street - ouch).

It is right across the street from the falls and there's a very clear view. We didn't use our car between arriving and leaving. Buy the Adventure pass, take the incline railway down and use the buses all day. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was and had a better than expected weekend.

The lounge is adequate but not great. They ran out of food one morning and gave me a coupon to the buffet at the restaurant, which was awesome. Room was fine - typical to upscale for a Sheraton.

The Sheraton Fallsview is directly over the falls (actually it is angled a bit). In any event upon checkin you can request a view of the falls, which we did and our request was met. Location wise, we really liked it. It is walking distance to jsut about everything. Next to the Hard Rock, and I think they were putting a mall in next door. And the Casino is about 1.5 blocks away. I cannot remember the name of the courses we played at but they were a 15 minute drive max, and both were nice courses.

Sheraton Fallsview is close (~5 mins walk) to the Fallsview Casino, which is the newer/more upscale of the two casinos. Its a longer walk to the Casino Niagara. I reccomend The Keg steakhouse at Fallsview - good food/service and great view over the falls.

Sheraton on the Falls showing its age

I haven't stayed at Fallsview yet (did wander the lobby) but I have to agree with previous poster that Sheraton on the Falls is tattered. Was there this past w/end and it's definitely showing it's age.

one big plus for Sheraton on the Falls is that it has a huge waterpark attached to it (above the parking garage) that was getting rave reviews from attendees.

Fallsview charges for parking, I believe Sheraton on the Falls does not.

Cheers,

Agree with the above posts:

- Sheraton Fallsview (Canadian side): Is by far the best (it's good, but don't expect to be blown away -- it's far from the best in the chain)
- Sheraton on the Falls (Canadian side): Poor to mediocre. Very poor quality service. Tacky/touristy part of town. Rooms and hallways are dumpy.
- Four Points (American side): Avoid at all costs. Awful. (But sadly that's kind of like the entire town of Niagara Falls, New York. The town has fallen on hard times and is a dump.)
