Official Confirmed SPG Plat Suite Upgrade [MASTER THREAD]

Since this is different from the Platinum Upgrade, let's post our Suite Night Upgrade Success here.

Yeah, excited to request my first Suite Night Request in less than an hour

Official Confirmed SPG Plat Suite Upgrade MASTER THREAD

I started a similar thread in the FT Hyatt Forum where people can list their Confirmed Suite upgrades and it seems to be a useful and popular thread. Starting today there seems to be a need for a thread like this in the SPG Forum as well, so I am starting a new thread on this so people can find out the possible Suite/Room upgrades for various hotels. And not only will this be useful for Confirmed Suite upgrades, but it will also be quite useful for 25 night Plats to come to and see what type of "time-of-checkin" upgrades they are eligible for.

I will post a couple examples over the next couple hours, so feel free to follow the example for other hotels. Ideally we could all post screenshots of what we are offered at each hotel. I know that takes a bit of time/hassle to upload pics, so alternatively if you want to just type in the base room & size, and then the upgrade room/Suite options (& sizes), that would work as well. I think room sizes are probably very important to add since all rooms seem to list the room size, and that tell you how big your potential Suite will be.

One very important note: PLEASE don't forget to list the name of the hotel in the "Title" box. In the similar threads on the IC & Hyatt forums, people often forget to include the name of the hotel, which is frustrating when you are reading through the thread.

Edited to add: I just got a good suggestion for how to improve this thread even more. I will cut and paste it:
I would specifically ask people to post about hotels they're familiar with & give opinions about the available categories (A-F). For instance, I just checked W HK, and their upgrade option is Fantastic Suite (700sqft), which sounds like a great upgrade, but in my 6 stays last year I got that for free three times and twice I got the Marvellous Suite, which is better (861sqft). The conclusion for me would be, don't waste these certs at W HK (and potentially, have they taken the Marvellous suite out of the upgrade pool?).
Also, if anybody else has any other good ideas on how to improve this thread, feel free to post suggestions here. Maybe Mods can delete all unneccessary suggestion posts (including mine below) a week from now after this thread has started to get some legs and has some content.

theNines, Portland (good)

Base room booked = Superior King (191-238 Sq Ft)

Upgrade Options:
1) 1-bedroom Suite King (440-611 Sq Ft, private living room)
2) 1-bedroom Suite King (672 Sq Ft, atrium view)
3) Accessible Suite 2 Queens (823 Sq Ft, city view)
4) Suite King (771 Sq Ft, dining room)

BTW, I have stayed at this hotel probably 10x over the past 3 years and RARELY get upgraded to anything above the Deluxe room I normally book, even though I often see Suites and Jr Suites available online a couple days in advance. I am very curious to see if Plats will actually start to get suites here or not. Or if instead theNines will just start pulling suite inventory 6 days in advance instead of 1-day in advance of the stay like they seem to do now. If it wasn't for their fantastic Club lounge, I wouldn't tolerate their Suite upgrade shenanigans, but since I love their Club lounge (and always go there for work so it's just myself and I don't need a Suite), I tolerate it. Very interested to see how they handle these Suite upgrades there though going forward.

BTW, no need to only report successes or failures, I am more thinking it would be useful just to see what is available at all, even if no upgrade results from your request. The more information we have, the better IMHO. Also, it would be nice to keep this thread as comment free as possible, with STRICTLY listings of potential suite upgrades at each hotel.............possibly in a week or so, the Moderators can go through this thread and delete any comments? Or possibly everybody can just self-monitor and only post actual Suite/Room upgrade options............................please don't take this personally jammanxc, it just keeps the thread cleaner and easier to read, nothing against you or your comment at all.

Great idea. It would be nice if people posted their reserved room type, room type showing in the mobile app prior to upgrade (if you have that info) and then the room type received after the upgrade.

Sheraton Steamboat Resort

I certainly like this Suite upgrade option as it's 3x as large as a standard room!!!

Based on a recent PM suggestion I quoted in my first post, it actually does make sense to have discussion in this thread so others can add their experiences with getting certain Suites vs not getting certain Suites, if it is worth it to burn a Confirmed Suite upgrade at a certain hotel, etc. So feel free to comment away. As long as people remember to input the name of the hotel in the "Title" box of their post, then it will be easy to weed out all the comments/discussion just by doing a thread search of the name of the hotel you are looking for.

Just for some more datapoints, Suite Night awards can't be applied to these reservations for me:
1) US Grant San Diego
2) Westin Mission Hills

Not sure if it's because there are no available Suites for my dates or if that is the case for all nights at this hotel, or something entirely different. I guess we will find out as more people post their own findings.

If you send me the confirmation numbers for these, I can look into exactly why that is.

And one final note: You don't actually need to be planning to redeem your Suite upgrades to add good info to this thread. You only need to have stayed 50+ nights in 2011 and also have future stay(s) booked. You can then check what they WOULD offer you for a Confirmed Plat Suite/Room upgrade without actually confirming it. So if you had 50+ nights last year and any future reservations booked, please feel free to add more datapoints to this thread. ^^^^

My guess is that it's because they are far out bookings, as both of these reservations are in 2013 (I had to book before they went from Category 4 to Category 5). So likely the hotels haven't loaded any Suite inventory yet. I don't have my confirmations #s on me now and am about to run, but thanks for the offer to check into this for me.
