any way to avoid fees on time change?
Four of us are traveling JFK-CAI-JNB-WDH, WDH-JNB-NBO, NBO-ZRH-JFK in 2 wks.
The awards are split - 2 on AC, 2 on UA.
At this time, we have the CAI-JNB-WDH leg has a 6hr layover. I just found availability for an earlier flight, saving us 4 hrs. Which, actually, is very important since we have a charter flight out WDH. If we fly out earlier, the charter pilot can fly back same day, saving us some money (not sure how much yet).
I have no status with either AC or UA. AC charges CAD$100 for change. I thought UA allowed time/date changes, but I guess I have old info...seems now it's $125...so altogether, it's around $400 in changes.
Is there any way to lower these?
