US Airways used to sell it. It's how I bought *G.

I don't recall if I paid $2k or $2.5K

//cheapening the product since 2013

Wouldn't *A also hold responsibility to some extent? How can something like this be allowed without them being complicit?

I'm not privy to how alliance agreements work (not that many people are, given their proprietary nature) but I'd assume somewhere in some contract they would have baked in a clause that would forbid this. Of course, I'm sure there's plenty of money to be made from it too and no doubt a not inconsiderable amount of people will cough up, so there's that element for them to consider as well.

I don't think there's a clause for this. The ability to qualify for *G was easier on Aegean up until recently. Plus, US Airways sold it for years. It was just not well known...

*G needs to find a way to clamp down on all this cheapening.

But of course, if it makes them money somehow, I guess there's nothing stopping it.

*sigh* I feel like I'm paying 100 times *G and only reaping *G.

There needs to be a new tier on AC as well as *G.

AC Cowabunga Elite = *G Diamond or whatever

I had no idea that US sold it.

I recall reading somewhere on FT I believe that they are considering a tier above *G.

So the next thing is for AC to create a new higher tier (not *VIP or whatever, but a real upper tier accessible by us non-celebrity plebs who fly 300K+ per year).

You can also buy *G via Air Canada by purchasing unlimited FPs... it just costs a little bit more.

So being cautious about creating a new tier implies serious consideration ?

Especially when the article goes on to explain how Schwab doesn't really see the value/buy in for a such a tier ? <facepalm>

This whole thread should be re directed to the Star alliance/Aviance forum as its not even AC related.

Yep, costs more.

Plus, I can gift it to a friend. But I don't.

I will gift the lifetime version of it though since that's what I'll get as a giftable item for being golf crap 2MM.
