Targeted Promotion: 500 bonus points for buying rapid rewards

My wife and I received a promotional mailing offering an extra 500 points for purchased between 9/12 and 11/18. It was sent out to SW Visa cardholders.

Points don't count for CP, etc, so it doesn't seem to be that good of a deal. I've met my minimum spend on the Visa card for the year, so I don't see much incentive here.

Are there any ways to make this offer worth it?

jc

I assume that's only good once? If so, it's a free $8.33, so buy something cheap.

EDIT: I am looking at the same flyer. To be clear, this is for buying RR 2.0 points. Register at southwest.com/cmbuygiftpoints on 9/12.

Assuming the same price as today, 1000 points (the minimum) plus the 500 bonus works out to around 1.83 cents each, versus a value of about 1.67 cents. Plus a bit for using the WN Visa. I'd only do it if I needed a few points for a redemption immediately.

Got one in the mail for me and the wife. Both went immediately into the trash. What a waste of printing and postage and time.

Hmm... trying to register for this promotion today (12th) and keep getting an error message. I was targeted with the mailing.

No, if transferred points were TQP it would be a lot easier for everyone to get A List.

Meh, I don't think it's too bad. If you buy 1000 + the 500 bonus points + the 55 points for the CC, they're very close to their true value.
