anyone fly to CCU on Skyteam?

Trying to get an awards flight into CCU in November/December.

It appears that the only skyteam flight into CCU is on China Eastern through Kunming. There is no direct from Kunming to the US, so it appears that I would have to connect into Kunming.

Questions:

(1) I assume that routing through USA --> Beijing/Shangai --> Kunming --> CCU will not work due to VISA issues.

(2) Would it be valid routing to do JFK-ICN (KE), ICN-KMG-CCU (China Eastern), or JFK-BKK/SIN (DL), BKK/SIN-KMG-CCU (China Eastern)?

What is the best way of trying to find award flight availability on these airlines?

Why would you assume this (as long as you can adhere to the 24 hour TWOV limit)?

It appears that DL's published fares require routing via the Atlantic, so you're not going to be doing a bunch of carrier mixing and matching. Thus, MU JFK-PVG-KMG-CCU is about your only option. JFK-DL-LAX-MU-PVG-MU-KMG-MU-CCU should also work, as would routing via YVR if you're booking after the date that DL's JFK-YVR service comes in. Prior to that, you're out of luck, as you'd exceed the four segment limit by taking a domestic connection.

I think you can still book Jetairways flights with DL miles. You can try booking JFK-BKK (DL)-CCU (9W)

Likely to price as two awards that way. If trying to hook up to 9W using DL flights, the routing is going to have to be TATL from what I can see in the routings.
