Best Dim Sum Restaurants In Singapore
Someone in a hotel thread asked about the best dim sum in Chinatown. My more general question is best dim sum in Singapore. When I google the question - I come up with several lists - including this one with 23 restaurants:

Sheesh. 23 "best" restaurants. Probably more dim sum restaurants than we have in my whole state which has close to 20 million people! Very hard to choose.
I am not sure that there is any special advantage in terms of dim sum in Chinatown since Singapore is about 75% ethnic Chinese in terms of population. But I could be wrong. Also - although I am fond of cart service (I enjoy dim sum but don't eat it often - so I tend to forget dishes when I can't see them "up close and personal") - I think it's pretty much disappearing in most places these days. Could be wrong about that too.
So what are your favorites? From the lowest end cheap hawker places to the big blowout spreads (often at hotels on weekends best I can tell). Stuff in the middle too. Robyn

Hai Tien Lo located inside Pan Pacific Singapore has a really good Weekend Dim Sum menu. It's S$68++ per person but the quality of food is really impressive.
Feel free to read my review on it: http://www.theshutterwhale.com/blog/...et-hai-tien-lo

I like Red Star for its traditional dim sum offerings and service.
Victor's Kitchen.. hmm.. their couldnt-give-a-damn attitude and service have taken a plunge recently. No longer enjoyable to eat there.

Hate to be a food purist (again ), but dim sum is a Cantonese thing, and Singaporeans for most part aren't Cantonese -- which is why dim sum isn't nearly as big a thing in Sing as it is in Hong Kong.
That said, I'm partial to Jade at the Fullerton, their weekend dim sum is not particularly authentic but is pretty darn good. $40++/pp last I checked, although this has probably gone up. (For comparison, at dinner time, most single menu items have triple-digit price tags.)

While the purist will debate authenticity to the end of the Pearl River I like different variety as well as the fusion touch of creatively doing what you can with different local ingredients.
I, for one, is proud of my ancestor's invention of egg rolls and chop suey out of necessity.
