Help an FT'er design a run :D

Hello folks

Need some help here cause my mind is not fully operational. Have got to be in Brazil sometime at the end of this month.

Can you design a routing for a CRWSTAR2 (34K tpm) that maximizes PPS sectors whilst taking into account the following factors:

1. Start/End in KUL
2. Must include these three stops: LHR,ORD and POA (porto Alegre, Brazil) any other stops are okay too.
3. Transatlantic preferably on LH (not keen on RG)
4. Runs eastward (transpac first, then transatlantic)
5. Not averse to flying non spacebed a/c

Apart from that, it's free and easy. Surely your great minds can come up with something creative Thanks ^

What program are you crediting (seeing if its worth getting some short segments in for minimum mileage purposes)?

Presume you need to be in Brazil end of Sept 05 (rather than Aug)?

Here's a sample routing - could be improved significantly if starting in BKK rather than KUL (with separate ticket to/from BKK from KUL).

KUL-SIN-BKK-NRT-LAX-ORD-GRU-POA-GRU-FRA-ZRH-MAN-ZRH-FRA-LHR-SIN-CGK-SIN-KUL

33,599 miles so could add a couple more short sectors if desired.
In business class earns 17.5 PPS sectors by my reckoning.

Since you're going to be in S. America late Sept, think u can linger around longer? some of us will be in EZE Oct 7-9? I'll be there longer Oct 6-11.

Btw, what's CRWSTAR2 pricing out in S. America these days?

Right. The boss man has said yes ! ^ ^ ^ ^ I'm chuffed

My current routing looks like this:

KUL SIN SQ103
SIN BKK SQ68 nightstop 1.25 sectors
BKK NRT SQ996 2.5 sectors
NRT LAX SQ12 3.75 sectors
LAX ORD UA124 nightstop IF somebody will have me over for a visit
ORD GRU UA843
GRU POA RG2329 stop
POA GRU RG2113
GRU JFK stopUA9830 OP'D BY RG8864 (Do i get LH exec bonus on UA number?)
JFK FRA SQ25 2.5 sectors
FRA ZRH stop LH3730
ZRH SIN SQ345 5 sectors
SIN CGK SQ 154 1.25 sectors
CGK SIN SQ 155 1.25 sectors
SIN KUL SQ 112

All up my math tells me 17.5 sectors, 33945 miles. Have i got it right?

In business class earns 18.75 PPS sectors by my reckoning.
Sounds good. Thanks - might try that. Can't start in BKK. Ticket's gotta be sold ex KUL.

LH for the miles, SQ for the sectors.

I worked your routing out at 17.5 sectors, the mileage in Abacus is close nuff though, 33,601 miles. I think the difference could be NRT-LAX. Is that 3.75 or 5 sectors?

I think my sample itin will be better as the RG & SQ operated flights wont get elite bonus miles on Miles & More. I considered a similar routing but can regain the "lost" miles for JFK-FRA easily by ZRH-MAN-ZRH run (assuming schedule works as Tues and Thurs only) and uses less miles overall (so can add other sectors) plus greater distance on LH/UA for the elite bonus miles.

Should be able to get 2 more european flights in there to bump up the mileage. Will take another look.

Point taken. Will look into that. So the RG flight booked in a UA code won't earn the LH exec bonuses then?

I doubt you'll get the UA flight number approved for GRU-JFK as normally CRWSTAR fares don't allow code-shares -- my guess is you'll be ticketed on Varig (RG) -- you might think of reducing a little on RG -- GRU-MIA, then MIA-FRA on LH...

Try this

KUL-SIN-BKK-NRT-LAX-ORD-GRU-POA-GRU-FRA-ZRH-MAN-ZRH-FRA-LHR-FRA-ZRH-SIN-CGK-SIN-KUL
33,837 miles & 20 sectors

Lots of fixed mileage for the intra-europe sectors 2500 except for ZRH-MAN-ZRH

How does this work out to 20 sectors?

Sorry poor choice of words. 20 segments, not 20 PPS sectors.

Doh just realised the max allowed is 24 segments. Back to the drawing board as sure can do better with 24.
