SIN-NYC if SQ unavail, CX or QR?

Hello

I will be flying J SIN-NYC this Sunday. Struggling to get SQ seat (agent still working on waiting list).
If SQ will not work out, what is the best 2nd option between CX and QR?

My main criteria would be quiet plane, seat comfort (1-2-1 config, flat bed and good for my 6'3'') and better mileage earning (I can deposit miles to either BA or QR FF account).

Any other major considerations or pitfalls to select either CX or QR? Both are great airlines so I am bit catched in the middle...

Thanks lot for any views.

Personally, I would go with CX for its service and comfort. Not a fan of transit in ME as i can't maximise my sleep time.

I know you didn't ask about them specifically, I did BR earlier this year (SQ to TPE, connecting to BR to JFK) and was impressed, same hard product as CX but service was much better. Food was good too, my main complaint was that there was too much!

I'd most certainly do QR, though if it were an option, I'd recommend EK on that route personally as long as you can get the a380.

For better mileage earnings, go for QR since it's a slightly longer route.

For seat comfort, depends which QR flight you are flying on.
QR701 - B77W - 2-2-2 J-class, noisier, some people prefer this over other J-class as they think that the bedding is super comfortable
QR703 - A350 - 1-2-1 J-class, quieter and direct aisle access, IMO better than CX J-class

For food - definitely QR

SQ is Star Alliance but not CX or QR. So it depends, do you care about accumulating miles? Both QR & CX are excellent airlines, and so is BR.

Many thanks for your views. I will go with CX.

QR has 2-2-2 config on both long DOH-NYC-DOH flights which my corp agent sent me - it is a no no (after getting used to wide 1-2-1 seats;-).
Also CX flies to EWR which seems better for my NJ destination after arrival.

I will be first time on new CX seats - interesting to compare vs SQ.

Haha I would rate SQ much higher than CX apart from the lounges. The meals onboard CX are terrible. Hope you will not be disappointed.

Safe flight and hope you will enjoy your trip!

Likewise for better tier points on BA, should go for QR (600) over CX (400) return.

Good decision! ^

Have done the QR 2+2+2 once. It was ok with an empty seat next to me.

I also think their 1+2+1 cabin is like an open dormitory. Not a huge fan.

Connecting in DOH is quite ok - but would rather avoid in the future.

1 2 1 in Business makes more sense than 2 2 2, don't you think? I prefer 1 2 1, especially if you are travelling alone.

absolutely - just saying neither QR product is great. Not a fan of that flying club at all.

And I suppose you think Q Suites are too enclosed

Oops, agree I missed this mileage bit... Thanks for reminder, I will count next time for sure!
Oh well, too late to change and I still hope 1-2-1 will be much more enjoyable on a very long flight vs 2-2-2 (how BA's 2-4-2 can be good is beyond me)!
And I kinda love Asian careers nowadays:-)

Thanks for all views, I hope will send TR afterwards (will post on CX forum).
