Outrageous taxes on partner award?
I just tried to book a partner award ticket from CPT-JNB-AUH on South African airways. The cost of miles one-way in business was the usual 35k, however, when asked how much the taxes were going to be, the agent quoted $582SGD!
When checking in ITA Matrix, the taxes were as followed (in SGD):
Carrier-imposed surcharge (YR)
S$204.00
United Arab Emirates International Advanced Passenger Information (API) Fee (ZR)
S$1.90
South Africa Passenger Service Charge (ZA)
S$55.40
South Africa Air Passenger Tax (WC)
S$22.20
South Africa Passenger Safety Charge (EV)
S$4.40
South Africa ACS Charge (UM)
S$5.60
All of the taxes in ITA Matrix came out to 293.50SGD. Did the agent make a mistake or is are there other fees that SQ is tacking on nowadays?
