Nearly zero, but possible.
Got an involuntary upgrade BKK-SIN years ago
when the booking class was full fare Y (not E).
It was the only one among 250 over SQ flights. I was KF gold then.

If flight is oversold, then operational op ups do occur (though very rare) and when one has status.
But OP was asking if SQ does favours by upgrading someone just simply he holds a Y ticket. Answer : No.
You'd be better off buying a discounted J ticket as it would most likely have been cheaper than a full fare Y ticket.
Having a Y ticket can mean so many things these days..
