B787 - no you can't have one this decade. Or next.

Demand and delays means potential customers will have to wait until 2020 for deliveries of new 787s. What a boon for the A350.

Oh boy THIS is definately a case of those laughing last......... Remember how Boeing ridiculed when Airbus had to admit there was a computer glitch which cause all wiring being tooo short and that it would set back the A380? Now look at them.

it has committed to build 1,209 Dreamliners.
That would make the 787 one of the most popular a/c in history. Before 2020.

How many A350s has AirBus sold?

How this own-goal will affect Mid-East carriers? Boeing's spokesman is cagey.
Here is the link.

Strike to Hit Gulf Deliveries: Boeing [Khaleej Times]
A Boeing spokesman, told Khaleej Times, it was too early to determine the impact on deliveries of aircraft to Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways as that would depend on how long the strike lasts.

“We don’t publicise our production rates, although we do publish, on a monthly basis, how many airplanes have been delivered and we’ll continue that practice. We will, however, deliver those airplanes that are completed and ready for delivery.”
A few Boeing outstanding orders:
Qatar Airways: 54 aircraft, including 30 787-8 and 19 777s.
Emirates: 52 aircraft including 10 747-8F
FlyDubai: 50 737-800
Etihad: 45 aircraft including 35 787-9 and 10 777-300ER.
Gulf Air: 16 787-8
RAK Airways: 4 737-800
(Bottom line: waiting who knows how long for 81 787s!)

So Airbus should be laughing because Boeing has their production pipeline filled with 1,200+ planes for 12 years while Airbus has 200 orders and can deliver new orders earlier.

If it were me, I'd rather be completely booked because I sold a ton of product.

I think it was more than 400 aircraft has been sold by A350s. I am not sure if I can look it up the spreadsheet. I will let you know soon as possible.

Just how long do you think they will keep those orders if they cannot deliver? And just imagine the the fees in form of breached contracts - late delivary. Airlines are not stupid and will not say "oh poor boeing..." They will insist on cash once the grace period in the contract has passed. Bear in mind that Boeing was already behind sheduale even before the strike. Some airlines are just not going to be able to wait that long.

Or they will wait that long and demand more pricing breaks on their order...similiar to what they did everytime airbus said the 380 was delayed yet again for something...

Not to mention penalties that Boeing may owe its suppliers. Our airframer contracts typically allow us to collect penalties for delays not caused by our product.

Just because there is an order backlog, does not mean that airlines cannot obtain an aircraft prior to that time. Several delivery slots are held by leasing companies and airlines can purchase delivery slots from other carriers. You will also inevitably see some customer cancelations, which will open-up additional slots.

I was thinking LOT also had B787 orders.

My link was for the ME Airlines forum; I don't have a summary of all airlines, szg.

Do you have a summary you can add?

N830MH, do you have the 787 order book sheet?
