Purchase Asia Miles

Anyone know if there are currently any schemes allowing the purchase of Asia Miles?

Last year with UOB was good - should have got more.

Thanks!

Do you mean in addition to the standard 2000 miles for USD$60?

You can buy up to 20,000 per year of them through Starwood Preferred Guest (and then transfer) at US$0.035/mile. If you do buy 20,000 then you get a 5,000 bonus when doing the transfer, reducing the effective price to US$0.028 (better than buying them direct from AsiaMiles).

Hello all,
I am reading these forums for years and have travelled the world twice over the years in the back of the plane.I was always governed by price so no real mileage saved.I have 46700 asia miles and am going to fly Fra HK on Y at long last.I am only going for the flights and I have seen availability for six day trips which will do me.
My question is if I have 69.57% will they sell me the 30.43% or is it that strict.I see the spg deal and am a member so could I buy my 20000 miles from them and transfer with the 5000 bonus which would bring me over the 70000 needed for round trip upgrade.I can also fly from anywhere in Europe if there is any trick I have missed.
Thanks for any assistance.

In my experience, at LAX they have no flexibility to sell you the top up miles unless you have the minimum that would qualify the purchase (70% I think). Not even 10 miles. I don't think they have any discretion as they call Hong Kong for anything related to miles. Departing Hong Kong they are often more flexible.

So try to purchase enough to have at least the 70% before you head to the airport. Be aware that the Starwood to Asia miles transfers can take weeks.
