Your favorite *G lounges

In another thread there was a discussion of how good the TG *G lounge in HKG was and Kiwi Flyer promised to post his list of the top 10 *G lounges when he gets time. While we're all waiting for that list I thought it would be interesting if we all listed which are our favorite *G lounges. By *G lounge I mean a Star Alliance lounge which will admit you with a *G card and *A Y boarding pass. No F lounges, contract lounges, C lounges that deny *G passengers, etc. You don't have to have 10. More or less is fine but please prioritize them with number 1 being your favorite. Here's my list. My travel patterns usually repeatedly fly to the same places so I'm missing on having visited a lot of lounges around the world.

1. SQ lounge @ ICN
2. OZ lounge @ ICN
3. TG lounges @ BKK (C or E concourses preferred over D concourse)
4. NZ lounge @ CHC
5. NZ lounge @ AKL
6. TG lounge @ HKG
7. SQ lounge @ LHR

On the flip side, my worst *A lounge experiences, starting with the worst are:
1. UA lounge @ EZE
2. UA RCC lounges in the U.S., with one of the IAD RCC getting honorable mention for having horribly maintained restrooms which looked like they belonged in a rundown bus depo and stall doors with a huge gap that they might as well have removed the doors entirely.

I'll bite, but leave it at 5....

TG @ BKK (Concourse C and E)
*A @ SGN (less than a year old)
NZ @ SYD
TG @ HKG
NZ @ AKL (although the trendline is down due crowding...)

Good idea to start a new thread rather than hijacking the other one, I was thinking the same.

Here are some of my favourites, I prefer not to rank them though.

*Air New Zealand lounge, Sydney (just great!)
*SAS Scandinavian lounge, Copenhagen
*Lufthansa Senator lounge, Hamburg (nice outdoor terrace)
*Singapore Airlines lounge, London/Heathrow (great staff, great food and free-flowing champagne)
*Thai Airways lounge, Hong Kong
*Lufthansa Schengen Senator lounge, Munich (when it's not too crowded)
*Air New Zealand lounge, Auckland
*SAS lounge, Gothenburg (I actually find it really cosy)
*Thai Airways lounge, Singapore

Sitting in the SAS lounge right now in CPH and it's "nice" but really not special. Food selection particularly poor, hard to find a seat, near a power outlet, but certainly very nice.

Definitely ^ on the TG lounge in Hong Kong.

Hopefully the over crowding at AKL should get fixed soon when the new lounge is open. Does any one know where the new one is going to be and when the opening date is .

That's the penalty for dragging your feet on posting your list.

I don't know about the SAS lounge in CPH, but the Gold lounge at ARN is very large and nice with lots of fresh food. The SKF lounge in SIN is a favorite, but not technically a Star G lounge since you have to fly F to get in. I'll be trying both the Star G lounges in KUL and BKK tonight. Hopefully I can manage my way into the TG F lounge. I've done it before at Don Muang and loved it. The Star G lounge at Suvarnapoon is nice though.

Lots of other nice ones that I can't think of off the top of my head.

My main lounge use is on LAX-FRA-BCN, so a bit limited.

1. TG lounge in HK
2. LH lounge on upper A level in FRA (good food every now and then)
3. AC MLL in one of the satellites at YYZ (don't remember which one)
4. UA RCC at LAX (i like the layout, but there's no food or service)
5. JK lounge in BCN (ratty furniture, but they have Spanish Fanta)

Not because CPH is one of my base airports, but because only few lounges has a real fire place Then it has nice decor, a real selection of international newpapers, nice drink selection, more computers and computer outlets than most lounges, so it is also in my top list:

SK Scandinavian @ CPH
LH Senator Schengen @ MUC
SQ @ LHR T3
TG @ SIN

and a nostalgic award to the old TG F Lounge @ DMK (old BKK)
but also a ^ to LH HAM for the terrace ;o)

I agree on all of that, only drawback is the food which used to be much better. Everything else is pretty great though and they even have two day rooms to use if you're tired and have a long transfer.

Hmmm, I'm a bit puzzled here.
Air NZ does not have a lounge at LHR, they use the UA lounge which is definitely nothing to write home about.
Perhaps you mean the SK/AC London lounge or the SQ lounge?

Hey.

My own experience..

1. TG BKK Lounges (C & E as others have noted)
2. NZ AKL Lounge
3. SQ ICN Lounge
4. TG (contract) lounge in DPS (best range of food.)
5. SA JNB Lounge

I also have fond memories of a few other lounges - notably the SAS lounges in CPH, BRU and LHR. May be it's the scandinavian design - but they feel airy.

After they upgraded and re-located the TG Lounge in KTM, it looks good as well.

Cheers!!

HAM and STR SEN lounges are amongst my favourite in Europe. (STR IIRC is however not a *G lounge but just SEN lounge)

What's the deal with all of the lounges popping up that are run by airlines in *A but not open to *G, only to their own passengers? In some cases it's only first class, but it's getting really irritating... Even first lounges don't let passengers from other *A first in. Case in point: Swiss lounge in ZRH doesn't let in SQ first.
