The Berlinflyer Birthday Dinner in NYC on March 29: YOU are invited to come
On saturday, March 29, 2008 I will have my traditional brithday dinner, this time in New York. After being in Sydney last year (and celebrating with wonderful fellow flyertalkers) I decided to continue this tradition.
If you happen to be in NYC on that day or can include a stop in NYC into your travel plans, you are invited to join me.
Date: March 29, 2008
Time: 730pm
Place: The West Bank Café, 42nd Street between 9th & 10th Ave. (thanks to monitor and catman for suggesting)
Dress code: Rather casual
Birthday present: not necessary
IMPORTANT UPDATE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have arranged for a very good "Tasting Menue" which consists of the follwing 5 courses:
1 - endive watercress salad
2 - grilled peppered shrimp
3 - pan seared bronzino
4 - grilled ribeye
5 - cappuccino panna cotta
The fixed price is just 45$ per person. However, I have to make a fixed reservation for acertain number of attendees. So please make sure that you let me now if you are coming or not. I will have to let them know the number of participants 48hrs in advance and if you sign up but fail to come, we will have to cover the cost of your menue.
Please make sure I have a final answer by wednesday, March 26h!!

Hi Berlinflyer...
Is there a particular dining place you were thinking of for your birthday? I'm sure the NYC based FT-ers can offer suggestions.
If you are staying in Midtown I can recommend several places that are not overly priced.
Just let us know. Thanks. Too early for me to say if I can make it (it's a weeknight all dependent on client load with my business.)

Interesting...
just saw this thread... I might be in town handling some business too...
However, it does depend on my teaching schedule. Put me in as a *maybe*
I don't know you guys, but that is what FT is about, right?
(Still a student living on stipend by teaching... so, please, pick moderately priced places )

This is one that we would really like to attend and our schedule, which set it as an impossibility only a few days ago, may now allow us to get there.
We would like berlinflyer to mark Franny and me down as "possibles." We will know for sure in a week or two (did he say that he was buying the drinks? )

I think in particular you, flysurfer, are too excited to see me based on your recent discussions in another (unnamed) thread. Maybe I should be afraid...

Ditto for me, szg.
The DO in FRA was just too big; I didn't get to spend enough time talking to everyone. I remember very well some people that I sat with at meals, got lost in FRA and bought silly hats with, etc. An FT yearbook would be an awesome memory refresher!!
Will be nice to attend a smaller gathering and talk to you all more
