I'll hope for an upgrade for a Thanksgiving San Francisco Breakation. It will be cozy night if Ms. Satori and I share a double bed.

Thanks to the OP, I booked this for the week before thanksgiving, but the room looks mighty small...

ditto tosatori! except I'm lowly gold, so it'll be a cold day in hell...

I have a hard time deciding between this and the TZOO rate at the Grand Hyatt for $129 and the Faster Free Nights promo there.....

Sounds like Motel 6 would be more spacious

A 10 by 15 foot room with one double bed seems a debateable value even at $100 plus tax. I wonder how much people have paid for those rooms when they aren't on sale?

Well, for Plats, that won't be an issue, or so I hope

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Besides, who needs a room in SF? Maybe for a nap and a shower...

Last one I was able to attend was in July, they keep scheduling them when I'm out of town.

Have you looked at the rates for Starwood hotels in the SF Bay Area lately?

I have.

The "cheapo" ones are going for $90 - 99 /night and up (i.e., in Pleasanton, Milpitas, etc.). @:-)

And in direct answer to your question, the exact same room type at the St. Francis is normally being sold for $149-159 during the same time period, depending on day of week, etc. I know which price I'd rather pay for a mattress run! (Besides which, especially given the current price points of other Starwoods in the Bay Area, those of us who actually live in SF rather than the 'burbs find the location a lot more convenient and fun! )

They put me in a very nice room last thanksgiving-lots of fun watching the shopping throngs from my window.
Staff was wonderful-all hands on deck. All the managers and their assistants were out on the floor assisting guests.

Especially after Oracle's Open World event is over (Nov 11-15), hotels in SF need to fill up the rooms...

Any experience in buying an upgrade to larger room/suite? How much do they usually sell the upgrade? Thanks.

Rooms are still available for some November dates. Looking back at my files I see last year the rates were $149 over Thanksgiving and this past Labor Day weekend the rates were $199 for the same type room. This is a great deal for the St. Francis considering the average room rate at the hotel in 2007.
