'RTW' Fare Increase - eff 01MAY07

I was more of a humanities and social sciences student back in school, so my math is a tad unreliable. I think this looks like about 5% increase? Someone will confirm, I'm sure.
Once other countries are known, can you please add the levels to this thread? Will post rule changes in another thread, once I can find them!

Dear Industry Partner

Star Alliance Round the World airfares have a pending fare level increases and ruling changes that will be effective for all ticket issuance on or after Tuesday the 1st of May2007. To avoid any airfare increase, all current and confirmed bookings must be ticketed on or before Monday the 30th of April 2007. Fare increases and rule changes for point of origin other than Australia will also occur. (My Italics).

It is important to note that all other Star Alliance airfares will have rule changes that will also be effective for all tickets issued on or after the 1st of May 2007 and these updated tariffs will be released this week.

Is this new increment or something that we have talked about before?

Thanks for the heads up Al B ^

Ouch. IIRC A$ has appreciated over the past year, so increases in other currencies may be even higher.

Link added to the reference thread.

RTW fares

Are the RTW fares fairly consistant from city to city.
In other words, does it matter if I buy my ticket
on Star A. RTWOne in BKK or HKG or NYC?

Thanks for the warning. I'll be monitoring the thread and updating the spreadsheet accordingly. I'll post a new version once we have a critical mass of fare updates.

confirmation for Sweden

I spoke with SAS this morning, they confirmed a price rise is coming on May 1st, but they could not yet tell me what the price increase would be.

Seems to me the biggest increase is in the CRWSTARx fares (and FRWSTAR2). Guess they are hitting up the market that gives them the most revenue the most. A few of the Y fare changes are a bit surprising too.

Thanks for the heads up, Al B!

The ex-Oz increase is a flat 5% for all except the special economy fare (in high season which gets 9.2% decrease, low season 5.3% increase). No picking on any particular class or mileage amount.

According to my TA increases ex-NZ are much more significant than what Al B posted, despite the high exchange rate. I'm trying to get details.

For new bookings applies from 1 May and apparently existing bookings have until 21 May to ticket.

SAS has confirmed a price increase but I've got no pricing yet. I'll post them as soon as they are official.

Are you sure about these? I've been toying with a routing for our next RTW, in an early-days kind of way, and it looks like it will be an FRWSTAR1 or -2, ex-Sweden. The current prices are SEK 64310 and 73960, which means the numbers you report represent a 47% increase.

cheers,

Henry
