Real Business Class on FRA-LHR starting March 28, 07

Currently, LH 4744 FRA-LHR and LH4743 LHR-FRA (the last LH flight from FRA and the first LH flight to FRA) are scheduled to operate with ABA, i.e. an A300-600 with old intercontinental C/Cl. This plane is normally used to e.g. CAI and is configured with 54C/163Y.

Is this permanent or just shuffling equipment around for a couple of weeks ?
Nice anyway.

The ABA seems to operate during the whole summer schedule period.

good idea. the c class on this ABA is quite nice for a short flight. you could actually say it could be appropriate for the ticket price, which would be new to LH kont C.

Yes - you can see that on the booking-screen of LH-website:

A300-600/600C means old standard config

A300(LH config) means this has a real C-Cabin.

What is a real C-Cabin? And what do you mean with old standard config?

A300 will keep its old continental C seats, unlike A319/320/321 and B737. The report here was about that one A300 bird, that has intercontinental configuration with old C seats.

A sizeable proportion of that journey FRA-LHR takes place on the bus to the remote stand at FRA.

What classes are available in the bus?

Another sizeable part of that journey is the shambolic secondary screening to get into those ""bus-stop" B gates. What classes are available there, is there a "fast lane" for C passengers ?

The actual plane journey is the easy part, whichever seats.

LH is refitting some of its AB6 fleet to a config with 'old' intercont C seats upfront so that they can run BEY, AMM and some other middle east destinations with AB6 and still offer a better C service.

I just got my confirmation for MUC-FRA in C, and the seat is 23H, with the seatmap showing 2x2x2 config in C. Is this "business class on demand" by moving the separator, as I suspect? The return is 15C, also on A300, which is also in the same cabin section.

I spoke to Lufthansa reservations in the US today. For my FRA-TXL flight, she told me the seating was 2-2-2, with A and C the seats on the far left. She basically laughed at me when I asked if the A seat was blocked, if I booked the C seat, as is done on the regional aircraft. Does this mean that my flight is operated using a new C? I assume a/c swaps are possible, so should I switch to the center section, just in case, so that I can get a blocked middle? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Fly BA if you don't like the T1 secondary security screening - the one at T2 is normally significantly more pleasant (less crowded, better organized). Still a bus ride, though ...

...and then you hit the queue at the immigration at LHR.

Question

For Europe in Business Class, the A300 J (both configs) won't be as good as an A321 would it?
