Overnight at/around FLL: Options?

Am contemplating a MR with FLL at the outbound point. Arrive there at midnight Saturday; depart at Sunday at 6 AM.

Never been at FLL before. What kind of "6-hour" options do I have?

-- Will I have to exit security between those hours?
-- Is security at the entrance to each "Concourse" or each "Terminal"? (Specifically, it appears I would be going in/out of Term 3, Concourse F.)
-- Any hotels connected to the airport?
-- Any airline clubs there on Concourse F? (Not that they would be open during my hours of transit, but am curious.)
-- Other ideas/suggestions?

Thankx.

Addendum: Just found a reference to a "Meditation Room" at the south end of Terminal 3. Any idea if it is open 24/7?

I also see that FLL has free Wi-Fi, so I guess I could entertain myself in the lobby for a few hours that way.

Technically you only have about 4 hours, with airport security in mind.

You can try the Las Olas / Fort Lauderdale beach or walk around Riverfront, both about 15-20 mts drive.

Of course around that time, you'll find only bars or night clubs that are open.

Came across a place called O'Hara's Jazz and Blues Cafe on Las Olas that says they are open until 3 AM. Thought I might do that, then walk on the beach for a while before I head back to FLL.

Anyone familiar with O'Hara's?

How's the taxi service in to/from that area and/or the beach at that time of night/morning?

I've been to the one in Hollywood on numerous occasions. Downtown Hollywood is pretty nice, and they've done a lot to make it better lately. I would guess that it's roughly equivalent cabwise to las Olas area. Cabs are plentiful, but just in case, get the phone number for Yellow cab or the like and keep it handy if you have to call one. I used to get schnockered at Oharas and take taxis' home all the time in the wee hours.

In addition to O'Hara's, I've also come across Club M (looks to be about a block from O'Hara's) and McGowan's (on the beach). Any comments ... or other suggestions?

And if worse comes to worse, I guess there is always the Hard Rock Seminole ...it certainly appears to be open 24/7!

Yeah the HRC Seminole on 441 would be another good option and it does opens 24 hours.

Watch your spending there

Be aware that the free FLL wi-fi network is especially unfriendly to many firewalls - it does work for many, but I just wanted to put out a "just-in-case" warning...

Thanks for the warning, but hopefully I will be finding far more entertaining things to do during my brief time in the FLL area.

... which brings me back to re-phrasing/re-asking my questions from above:

For late night bars/clubs (jazz, blues, rock, oldies; no rap), which is better: Las Olas Blvd or Hollywood Blvd?

Which is better: O'Hara's on Las Olas or the one on/in Hollywood?

Any late night places other than O'Hara's on Las Olas?

How about the Club M on Hollywood?

McGowan's on Arizona looks like its beach location could be a fun place. Comments?

My ultimate fallback is hanging out at the Hard Rock Casino, but I have to believe there are better options in that the midnight to 4 AM time frame.

(The urgency: My MR is this weekend: 2/3 Dec!)

Thankx.

I don't recall anything good on Hollywood Blvd so I'd say Las Olas is better.

And if you're into strip club, there's a huge strip club in North Miami called Tootsie's (about 15 mts south of HRC casino). Definitely entertaining with the $10 cover. About 30+ strippers walking around all at once and you get a free gift (clock, backpack, etc) with every lapdance

Just back from my MR to FLL, and thought I'd post a couple of my opinions:

-- Taxis are somewhat expensive: ~$34 from FLL to Hollywood Blvd; ~$26 from Hollywood Blvd to Hard Rock Casino; ~$33 from Hard Rock back to FLL. (Obviously would have been cheaper to rent a car; but then there would have been the issues of parking plus avoiding mixing drinking and driving.)

-- Hollywood Blvd. was still quite lively when I got there at ~12:45 AM. But started winding down shortly after I got there.

-- On the other hand, the Hard Rock (actually the "club district" just outside the casino itself) was still going VERY strong when I left a little after 4 AM

Bottom line: On a Saturday night / Sunday AM, I would recommend the Hard Rock for variety and late hours. Some really excellent people watching, too!

Terrific... I'm doing the same thing (overnighting 12am-6am)... but this will be on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. No need to drink... perhaps I should just rent a car and cruise around? Any recommended/can't-miss late-night eateries?

Back-up plan: Enjoy free internet.

Lesters on SR 84 is a Ft. Lauderdale institution. Not far from the airport either.

Just to be sure that you understand: Lester's is a diner - a fine place with decent food and service, but still a diner, not a haute place - I go there at least once a week (I live 1.5 mles away, and in fact will be having breakfast there tomorrow morning)
