Let's Eat! (International 2004)

Greetings!

Now that we all know where to sit on a 777, wondering what is to eat is one of our more often-asked questions here in the UA forum. Last month, I started a thread with October’s transcon dinner menu.

However, I thought we should have an ongoing thread since menu items carry over from month to month (and even year to year!) and it makes it easier for people to peruse responses in one thread instead of many. And I am doing it with separate Domestic and International meal service.

So for 2004, I invite you to “Let’s Eat!”

United Dinner Menu for IAD-LHR Flights (11/04)

United Dinner Menu for IAD-LHR Flights (11/04)

For First Class

I did not see the First Class menu, but it is very close to what they serve in Business class, with one extra entrée and sundae toppings.

TO BEGIN

Selection of hot and cold appetizers (served from a trolley). Included smoked salmon and parma ham, plus others.

SALAD

Fresh seasonal greens, Japanese cucumber, tomato and crutons
(hot food – probably chicken strips)
Asian sesame ginger or creamy Gorgonzola dressing.

MAIN COURSE

Filet mignon with Hollandaise sauce
Served with choice of home-fried potatoes, green beans and carrot bâtonnets or Corn flan and spinach with smoked bacon.

Rotisserie-style chicken with honey mustard beurre blanc
Served with choice of home-fried potatoes, green beans and carrot bâtonnets or Corn flan and spinach with smoked bacon.

Prosciutto and basil wrapped shrimp
Mediterranean-style tomato sauce and lemon flavored rice pilaf

One Additional Entrée Type

DESSERT

International cheese selection
New England Cheddar, Gorgonzola, and one other type of cheese

Edy's ice cream with sundae toppings

Fresh seasonal fruit

(One other choice)

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

(Possibly a hot entrée – I imagine an egg dish)
Continental breakfast featuring a fruit appetizer and yogurt.

Tea sandwiches
Egg and cress, chicken tikka and crab salad sandwiches

Chilled deli plate
Parma ham, herbed breast of chicken, Edam cheese and couscous salad.

Sacha Lichine! Since Sacha is the familiar for Alexis, this must refer to the well known owner of Bordeaux Ch. Prieure-Lichine and author of the Encyclopedia of Wines of the World and Guide to the Wines and Vineyards of France. Since he died some time ago, I wonder how they got to use his name on a Burgundy!
