New transfer and stopover rules for Star Alliance awards on LH

While trying to book my last award, I tried to research the new mileage thresholds which determine how many connecting flights or stopovers you can have on a given award.

The Miles and More website only said

Stopovers

Please ask your Miles & More Service Team for the current Terms & Conditions.

Connecting Flights

Please ask your Miles & More Service Team for the current Terms & Conditions.
.

Thus, I did exactly this and the CSR gave me these numbers:

Connecting flights allowed on a Star Alliance award:

Y
up to 35: 1
40-80: 2
more than 100: 3

C
up to 50: 1
60-120: 2
more than 150: 3

F
up to 70: 1
100-180: 2
from 200: 3

Stopovers:

One stopover, either on the outbound or the return flight, allowed if the amount of miles spent is in...

Y: 60 or more
C: 90 or more
F: 140 or more

Thought this info might be useful to some.

Does it mean that I would be allowed to have a stop-over in BKK on a OSL-FRA-HKG-BKK-FRA-OSL F-award?

I could be wrong, but this would be my understanding, yes.

True, because it would be a 3 region award...

But if you did

OSL-FRA-SIN-BKK-FRA-OSL,

you could have a stopover both at your point of turnaround (either SIN or BKK) and the other stop in SE Asia as well, for 180,000 miles, I believe.

I am a bit confused. Regarding to that what attorney28 wrote earlier, it is 1 stopover for the whole trip (>90k in C) and not per each way. This is also that what I was told from M+M reservations. If someone has different info or something has really changed I would be glad to hear this.

Sorry, I think I created the confusion by not wording it completely clearly in my first post.

The connecting flights are each way, the stopover is 1 for the whole trip.

Does anybody know how Lufthansa defines the point of turnaround? I will be travelling to Auckland and Fij, and if AKL is the point of turnaround I will have 3 transfers outbound and 3 transfers inbound (which is by the rules), but if Fiji is the p.o.t. then I would have 4 transfers outbound and 2 transfers return (which is not allowed).

Any advice?

the point of turnaround is defined by the point where you stop for a longer time

I thought it was the point farthest from your start point. At least NZ's FFP makes this explicit.

From FRA, AKL is further away than NAN.
