Unbelievable diversion for BMI Baby passengers

Last Friday evening passengers boarded a BMI Baby flight from Edinburgh, Scotland, to East Midlands, in Central England. Only once aboard were they told they would be making a substantial extra trip, to go first to Jersey (close to France) to pick up passengers stuck there due to a defect on another BMI Baby plane. And no, no one could get off first. So they flew south, overhead East Midlands, and got to Jersey where they found those passengers were now going to be flown to Cardiff first.

And then there was a riot. Surprised ?

They went eventually direct northwards to East Midlands, overflying Cardiff, and the passengers were then put in a bus (which was hours late turning up) for the several hour drive back south to Cardiff.

The Cardiff passengers had checked in at lunchtime Friday for a 45 minute journey. The bus got them to Cardiff airport about breakfast time Saturday.

Amazing. Read the story on BBC web page this morning. Looks like they are trying to beat Ryan Air in every aspect including their crappy attitude and total disregard to customer care.

Wonder whether EDI passengers had to go through Customs along with JER passengers upon disembarkation at EMI?

For a thread I've been (trying to) run sensibly about this among the professionals on PPRuNe, including comments from those in BMI Baby ops department at the time (!), see here:
